Good campground right along the river. It does get busy during the Summer and during holidays. We have always caught plenty of Trout and enjoy the scenery. Once in a while military jets come through the canyon flying "nap of the earth." Also McNally's is close by. Great food and great bar. One last thing, this is where one of the few bridges that cross the Kern is. On the other side there are some hot springs if the river isn't running too high.

A great place for a last minute camping trip! We were so happy to snag a spot on the river on a weekend. Site #14 didn't have any shade, but it was fairly secluded and had a great view. The tent sites were smaller, not the site for a huge 8 person tent but it worked great for the two of us. I'd definitely go back, the weather was perfect in early April.

We went last week and got a first come first serve spot around 7:30-8ish. But arriving earlier always betters your chances aswell.
No, not right now but I used my portable gas grill to get the s'mores done and the kids still have a great time!!
The sites are all first-come first-served or reserved for this week. Can't make a reservation
No.
Yes they do
Yes. Fish are stocked from the hatchery
The Facility map on the web site shows the locations, all the ones along the river are less than 20 feet from the water. It is a short walk through/between one of them from any other site. Fairview is low to the water unlike some of the other campgrounds that are on more of a cliff.
Yes pets are welcome there on a leash
