As the campground host I apologize for the table and bear box, we try hard to stay on top of all there is to do. That being said, anyone who has an issue at a campground should talk to the hosts so that it can be taken care of . Headquarters is just out of town enough to feel remote but close for convenience. dessert and river in one place. Very hot and crowded in the summer months, but the cool water of the kern make it worth it .

Disgusting. They apparently don't bother to clean up the only two things that need to be cleaned... the picnic table and the bear proof box. Both covered with sticky spilled food stuff. Absolutely filthy. The stench of the pit toilets wafting through the campground is enough to take your mind off of the filthy tables

Lots of shaded campsites, easy access to river, clean, basic amenities (vault toilets, water spigot, dumpster) would come back.

Great campsite for relaxing.

Fiona is correct and we appreciate her/your thoughtfulness when running your generator in the campground. It is very peaceful and pleasant here.
I stayed at Headquarters from November 20-22 and they were allowed! They just started allowing them that weekend :)
As long as they are in the firepits they should be allowed, but I haven't been there in six months.
Not really. Spotty at best. Have to go up on the road or 1/2 to closest town.
They were both allowed when I was there but can change at anytime. Look at Sequoia National Forest website for the latest updates.
Stay at 37,B
Don't need code neither keys just look for u camping spot number and they have the paper posted on the entrance just park there and by the morning the camp host will assist you unless you get there before 10pm the host still awake
No...there are no showers. You basically bathe in the River. Or I suggest going to get a camp shower..
Yes I didn't see any tho. And each camp site has at least one bear box. Skunks and other critters are more likely to go for the food
You would have to ask the park rangers. We were told no fires and we went last weekend. Only gas stoves
We did it but i think you might need a permit when renting campsite and have a extinguisher nearby
I Know the ones close to our campsite did.
Exactly the website but steel at least 1 month before if possible 3 months in advance
Don't think there's a discount but there are handicapped parking
I believe sites closer to the river are $35-$45 and a little less the further you are away from the water. Don't think fees change much due to seasons but available does.
Midnight is technically the latest. The rangers usually do their drivebys crack of dawn early in the morning to catch late arrivers but they can and do show up or do random drivebys all day and night long in case anyone without a reservation takes up a spot, especially at headquarters.
Does any one know what the campsite # is which has the large tree branching out into the water at headquarters campground
Inside Headquarters campground using the fire ring seems to be "allowed". Technically speaking the current fire warning level is extremely high so they say NO Camp fires right on the sign. BUT, we all kinda know it's really hard and can ruine a camping trip if you can't light a fire. So just keep safety in mind. No need for high flames or trying to burn fresh wood that pops like crazy trying to burn it. Both those are the two most common dumb things to do. They both send flaming ashes outside the pit.
There isn't a cabin with a phone. The lady in charge is in a RV and no land line I can see.
Some are.
One good river spot is 18 and the ones to the north of 18 are good as well!
Very very hot about 110 from July 1-26
Yes, there is plenty of room.
