They are; there are also bean bags available.
No. Just one show, but if you have a membership the ticket prices on most shows go down so it's less expensive overall!
My 4.5 year old likes it, but she gets bored about halfway through, but im talking full blown energy baby sitting for 45 minutes. She really liked the space mission one.
Hi Ellen! We are open year-round. Our weekly schedule differs between the seasons: During the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day we are open 7 days a week, and after Labor Day through the school year we are open Tuesday through Sunday, plus a few Mondays during busy holiday weeks. Ticket prices are $8 general admission for all guests 3 and older, or $4 for Union Station Members. We offer a variety of shows covering many different topics and suitable for many different age groups. For adult groups, our live star tour "Sky Station LIVE" is our most popular traditional astronomy program, and we offer documentary features as well, such as "Capcom Go," which is a history of the Apollo program. Let me know if you have any other questions! Patrick Hess Planetarium Manager
The planetarium is inside Union Station on level B near the ticketing office. From the parking garage you can enter on the west side of the building.
Hi Diana! The cost of general admission is $8 per ticket and free for children under 3 years old. With a membership to Union Station, you receive free passes you can use annually, and tickets purchased after the use of free passes are $4 for Union Station members. You can find more information about Union Station membership here: https://unionstation.org/membership Patrick Hess Planetarium Specialist
Hi Teresa. Magic Tree House: Space Mission is about 30 minutes long. We also offer Big Bird's Adventure, which is less than 25 minutes. Hope that helps! Patrick Hess Planetarium Specialist
Hi Deb! Our next live star tour, called "Sky Station LIVE," will be at 12pm tomorrow. This season the planetarium is open Tuesday through Sunday, and our star tour is available at 12pm on weekdays and at both 12pm and 3pm on weekends. You can find the full show schedule and links to purchase tickets online at https://www.unionstation.org/sciencecity/planetarium. Let me know if you have any other questions! Yes! You buy tickets to planetarium shows individually.
Hi Gigi! The planetarium is open today and 7 days a week during the summer. We have a number of different shows at different showtimes today, including a live star tour, a documentary about the Apollo program, and a fun kid's show based on the Magic Tree House books. You can find our full schedule at http://unionstation.org/planetarium. Hope that helps to answer your question! Patrick Hess Planetarium Specialist
Hi Terrie. Our showtimes differ each season; you can always find an up-to-date schedule of our showings at http://unionstation.org/planetarium.
Yes. It will open at noon today.
Hi Shon. The International Astronomical Union does not formally recognize any commercial star naming service, so while there are many services that offer a way to purchase or name a star or astronomical object, the name will only be reflected in that particular service's registry, and will not be able to be found in any other database. You can find more information here: https://www.iau.org/public/themes/buying_star_names/
There is a ticket office available on site.
