Today was my first time there. I go to another church. I went today because my daughter was being baptized. I thought the church was full of life, spirit, laughs, and the word. I can see why she loves it there.

I love this church have been attending for 1 year now. It is a Holy Ghost, devil stomping, Jesus loving church. Pastor Jon Purkey is an amazing pastor. My daughter attends every Wednesday for youth and I have seen a huge growth in her faith.

There are a million reasons why Nexus Church is a true church but if you don't know God and are curious about Him or if you're a Christian who feels like there should be more to your faith than just going to church, you should attend Nexuskc for a few weeks and decide for yourself. We moved to Kansas about 6 years ago and couldn't find a church home. The Lord placed it in my heart to try Nexuskc 2 years ago but we never went and still kept trying other places. Every church we went to felt DEAD and like we were going through the motions...I could barely feel a flicker of the Holy Spirit in any of those places. We'd drive by Nexus and, I'd say "we need to try it one Sunday." Finally, God shook us and getting into a church became life or death for our family and that was the Sunday we went to Nexus. I haven't read any of the reviews yet but if anyone is taking the time to post a negative comment about this church it's most likely because they are personally hurt or offended or "heard" something but not because the Lord told them to do it. Nexus will push and challenge you to grow in your faith and meet the Everlasting Father if you don't know him. If you've attended a service and felt offended for any reason, remember, the devil is a liar (John 8:44) and delights in confusion--God is not the author of confusion or offense (1 Cor 14:33 & Matthew 11:6). The Pastor's and church staff have a heart for the Lord. They have a heart for getting people saved and equipped to pay it forward. It's about God, it is not about them. If you're hurt and offended by "them," remember they are human--not Jesus and they may fall short of your expectations but if you are seeking the Lord with all of your heart, your spirit will cover any blemishes they may have in their imperfections. I've heard a couple of people say the church is "cliquey." You have to ask yourself...are you an introvert or an extrovert? I'm an extrovert, my husband is a bit more of an introvert but we BOTH made the conscious decision to jump in and get connected through severing and attending almost every event. We have always felt welcomed and we are building new, meaningful, connections every time we're around members. Again, church members are "people" too, if you're going to church because you have a heart for the Lord but someone not talking to you makes you not want to go back, you have to search yourself and get into prayer about it. You may be on the verge of the breakthrough and back to my original point, the devil is a liar trying to isolate you. A few quick points: Nexus is not a "feel good church" - Yes, you will feel good, energized, and on fire for the Lord when you leave service but you're not going to get the "you're a good person & nice to everyone so, you'll probably go to Heaven" teaching. Which leads me to my next point.... Nexus is a Bible based church. In all that is done, scripture is referenced and quoted (as is should be). Pastor's Jon and Lisa challenge everyone to GET INTO THE BIBLE for themselves...study the word. Even if you don't go to Nexus, I urge you to question any church that doesn't reference multiple scriptures from the Bible when you're being taught. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." There's no point of going to church if you're not getting the word from God. Nexus is not a doom & gloom church. Is the Bible taught? Yes. Are there unpleasant parts of the Bible foretelling what is to come? Yes. You may come to church and feel convicted but you never leave feeling beaten down (unless your flesh is lying to you). If you come to a service and feel that way, seek out a staff member and talk to them. Give them a chance to talk through it & pray with you. I don't normally do reviews but I think it's important for you to know what a blessing Nexus Church has been for my family and me because I want everyone to have what I have.

Me and my husband moved to KC in 2017, and we prayed for God to lead us to a Holy Ghost Spirit led church. Ill never forget the very first time we went to Nexus I immediately felt the anointing flowing through the Worship service/ leader, aka Pastor Victor, as he sung! The tears just started flowing as I worshiped, and the Holy Spirit was just so THICK up in that place! It was at that moment that I knew Nexus was the church for us. Nexus has challenged me in my faith, and caused me to grow in boldness, courage, servitude, and many other areas in my personal Christian walk with the Lord! Pastor Jon and Pastor Lisa Purkey have most definitely been a blessing to my little family here in KC, and to my immediate family in Wichita, Ks! If you are looking to be spiritually fed the TRUTH without any sugar coating, watered down preaching, Nexus is the place for you!
