When I arrived at my polling place at Englewood Vista, 25-30 people in front of me, no big deal. Once I got further inline, I noticed the ballot box was turned around backwards and ballots were being stuffed in the slot in the back. Come to find out that the ballot machine had a paper jam. I asked the election officials what was going to happen once the jam was cleared, I was told that two officials would empty the box, and feed them into the machine. I was like ok fine, but then asked them how they knew how many ballots had gone in and got counted before the paper jam. I could not get a straight answer. Meanwhile, an official from the County election office came and said to the officials I am here fix the ballot box. She then states I have no identification then proceeds to the ballot box and starts to clear the jam. The election official got up and followed her to the ballot box and told her to stop working on the machine. The official with no id then said I have to fix the machine and kept working on it. The gentlemen said you have no id, I cannot allow to work on the machine. The official then said call this person or this person, and proceeded to work on the machine. I finished my ballot and dropped it into the box, the gentlemen was still on the phone talking to someone. Needless to say, I have lost all confidence in my precinct after the events of this morning. This happened today Tuesday, Nov 8th at 7:30am.

You can not pick one up at this point you would have to absentee vote in person. If for the next election you need a ballot you would need to fill out an application and they will send a ballot every election if you qualify for the absentee ballot.
If you requested an absentee ballot by mail, you can bring your ballot to the Election Board in person. If you requested a Mail-In ballot, it must be mailed back to our office.
Missouri does not have Early Voting. However we do have Absentee voting starting 6 weeks prior to an election. You can do that in person at the Clay County Election Board as long as you have a reason to vote absentee. You need to bring acceptable ID, that includes either a Drivers license, voter ID card, passport, government issued ID, student ID, a bank statement or a current utility bill.
Please call 816-415-8683, also the election judges will have that information if there is a valid write in candidate in your district.
