Originally I had thought that I needed an Otoplasty till I found that there was a specialized procedure that only a few doctors preform know as “Macrotia Surgery” then I realized my ears didn’t stick out much at all but that the overall size was what I disliked about them. Recently I underwent a combination of Macrotia Surgery and an Earlobe reduction . I couldn’t be happier my ears finally fit my face and have a perfect “C” shape with MINIMAL scarring (the doctor hides the incision of where he excised some of the anti helix strategically under the helix so no scarring is visible) . The entire procedure took 2-3 hours but under IV sedation it felt like seconds . Regarding the recovery , it was painless in my personal experience (I prepared for the worst) but I think ANY other procedure is more painful then this one. I only felt slight pressure the following day that was mostly from the head wrap they put you in after surgery for your ears to keep their new shape . The head wrap is only worn for the first night or two. During recovery you’re not allowed to sleep on your side, especially while you have the head wrap on . I personally used the hole of my neck pillow to put my ear in to sleep on my side so that my ear was elevated and not directly pressing against the pillow. The office is very clean and luxurious (it’s very beautiful and spacious) but you won’t feel intimidated because the staff is so welcoming and personable making sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. They made the entire affair smooth sailing from start to finish , especially Nurse Vicky she’s the nurse that you will speak to pre-op to answer any questions you might have as well as the nurse that will care for you post-op . She is the sweetest thing you’ll ever meet and will make you feel so comfortable and reassured throughout the entire experience . As for the man of the hour, Dr Rodriguez-Feliz he’s very personable, meticulous , and informative he takes his time to explain and doesn’t rush through anything (like some other doctors I’ve been to) . He is a perfectionist, I couldn’t believe nor understand how he managed to perfectly reshaped both my entire ears, and I also couldn’t believe how uniform the sutures were . He’s the best , and it shows not only through his work but through his office and through his staff who provide a quality experience .
