Zero empathy for customers urgent needs. Would not help me because it was too close to closing time, I was already in the shop and they refused to help me.

Great service!

Very cool pharmacy! They really deserve a 5 star rating. We have always received fast and courteous service. My family and I make an effort to patronize small or family businesses, especially restaurants. I prefer to go to Marco Drugs because unlike CVS or Walgreens' giant corporate machine here, they treat you like you are part of their family. Everyone I've ever interacted with has been amazing. They accept insurance and do Compounding. I recommend Marco Drugs!

● Great Customer Service ● Knowledgeable Staff ● Professional Staff ● Compassionate ● Compounding Experts ● Competitive Pricing Truly an amazing little pharmacy! Not sure why they only have a 4.3 rating since all we've ever experienced has been remarkably expeditious, respectful, precise, and informative service. Their level of service has exceeded my expectations. It does not even begin to compare to Walgreens, where my family and I were just numbers. There we felt more like a nuisance to their staff. WE SHOULD ALL SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES! This pharmacy's attention to detail to their clients' needs is what sets them apart from the rest. Their professionalism reflects from the top, owner and pharmacist, Sonia, to the technicians such as, Julio & Melissa. Not only are they efficient and quick to fill your prescriptions, they are extremely competent with compounding medications. This is the first place I think of to get my prescriptions filled from my Dermatologist. It also helps that they are so friendly and understanding, they treat you like family, like you belong. I highly recommend Marco Drugs!

Federal law addresses compounding by a licensed pharmacist in a state-licensed pharmacy, or federal facility, or by a physician, as well as compounding by or under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in an outsourcing facility.
Commercially available drugs are manufactured by drug companies in mass quantities for the general population with no specific patient in mind. Compounded medications are ordered by a physician, individually prepared by a compounding pharmacy, and made specifically for your unique medical needs.

Most formulations take several hours to compound, once we get a new order it gets placed into our filling queue and this process can take 24-48 hours to have your order filled.
Our pharmacists love talking to prescribers about the science and how to compound a medication for their patients. Have your prescriber or their nurse call Marco Drugs& Compounding and ask to speak to a pharmacist and we can clear up any confusion.
There are two types of compounding — sterile and non-sterile. Sterile compounding must be done in an environment that is completely free of potentially harmful microorganisms like bacteria or viruses. These types of medications are typically administered directly into the eyes or intravenously (in an IV), and so it is important to take additional safety precautions and follow rigorous facility and equipment standards. Non-sterile compounding must be done in an environment that is clean, but not necessarily free from bacteria, viruses or other microorganisms. Non-sterile compounding is used to create the more common medications, such as ones that are applied topically or taken orally.
If you’re receiving compounded medication, it’s likely the result of a conversation that you had with your doctor. Your pharmacist should also go over the details of your medication with you and be able to answer any questions that you have. If you’re still unsure, don’t hesitate to ask!
It’s easy! Call us and a Marco Drugs pharmacist will be happy to help you out.

While all pharmacists undergo compounding training, some choose to complete additional training and offer more robust compounding services than others. With tighter regulations being put in place, certain equipment is required for more advanced types of compounding, which not every pharmacy chooses to offer. While most pharmacies offer at least some basic compounding services, you will need to seek out a pharmacy like us that specializes in compounding for certain medications.
Some of the most commonly prescribed compounds include: -Bioidentical hormone therapy, including plant-based hormones in a variety of dosage forms -Medications like muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories, which can be prepared topically to target pain at the site, without common side effects -Compounded prescriptions to address aesthetic and therapeutic concerns -Adrenal dysfunction and thyroid support
Your physician prescribed a medication that needs to be created from scratch for you. It can’t be bought in the marketplace, and it can’t be used by anyone else. We’re a compounding pharmacy, which means we compound prescriptions your neighborhood pharmacy can’t formulate.
Some insurance companies will not directly reimburse. However, almost every insurance plan allows for the patient to be reimbursed by sending in claim forms. While you may be paying a pharmacy directly for a compounded prescription, most insurance plans should cover the final cost. Because of these inconsistencies, it is best to consult your personal insurance company regarding compounding pharmaceuticals with any questions you may have.
If traditional pharmaceutical options don’t work or have ingredients that could complicate a person’s health, doctors will likely direct patients to a compounding pharmacy. However, even if traditional medications aren’t counter-indicated, some people just prefer a compounded formulation.

Because we formulate and prepare each prescription to the patient's individual needs at the time of order, the process to fill/make each individual prescription varies. Please call us so we could give you an estimate based on your needs.
Sometimes, a prescription written by your doctor for the new compound, containing the active medication ingredient, can be filled at Marco Drugs & Compounding even though the original prescribed medication may not be commercially available from the manufacturer. Give us a call and we can say for certain.
The cost of compounding medications is very reasonable since compounding pharmacists have access to the pure-grade quality chemicals needed to eliminate some of the costs that go into commercially manufactured pharmaceuticals. But the actual cost will depend on the time involved and equipment used.
If you are out of refills, please call the Marco Drugs phone number that appears on your compounded prescription label.
Yes. This is heavily regulated. We must be fully trained and licensed in order to dispense medicine that we have compounded, so that we are able to fully understand the drugs that we are making. If you still have doubts, you can contact us and we will be able to explain the standards, testing and quality control exercises we use in order to ensure the safety of our customers.
Yes. Children and the elderly are often the types of patients who benefit most from compounding.
A ‘bulk drug substance’ (BDS) is any substance incorporated into a finished drug product that furnishes its pharmacological activity. In other words, a bulk drug substance is an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) or chemical ingredient used to produce a drug.
There are several reasons why prescribers and pharmacists provide compounded medications for patients. The primary reason for compounding is to avoid patient non-compliance, which means the patient is either unable or unwilling to use the medication as directed. Many patients are allergic to preservatives or dyes, or require a dosage that is different from the standard drug strengths.
Each medication has specific disposal requirements. Follow any disposal instructions on the prescription drug label or patient information sheet accompanying the medication. If you are unsure of the disposal requirements, contact your local law enforcement office, pharmacy, or municipal or county government to learn about any medication take-back programs in your area.
Please call us at (305) 665-4411
For the most part the answer is yes. Most of our prescriptions come from Medical Doctors (M.D.), Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) and Naturopathic Doctors (N.D.). Some doctors have limitations on what may be prescribed and these limitations may vary from state to state.
A pharmacy such as Marco Drugs has highly-trained pharmacists and the proper facility, quality control procedures and equipment to prepare custom-made medications accurately and safely. There is a huge difference between a pharmacy that dispenses prescriptions for commercially available drugs that are manufactured by a drug company and a pharmacy that compounds medications.
Drug compounding is often regarded as the process of combining, mixing, or altering ingredients to create a medication tailored to the needs of an individual patient. Compounding includes the combining of two or more drugs. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved.
Please give us a call and we will be able to tell you if we have catheters in stock.
If your pup needs to take medication, you can do a few things to mask the taste. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help: 1. If the pill is in its original container, pop it open and empty the contents into your hand. Discard any leftover pieces. 2. Add the pill to one tablespoon of peanut butter. Make sure the pill is completely enveloped. 3. Give the mixture to your pup. Be patient – some dogs will lick it off your hands or eat it whole. If your pup doesn’t enjoy it, try stirring the pill in another flavor, such as fruit juice, before giving it to him.
There are many benefits to taking compounded medication. First, compounding pharmacies can create customized medications that are specifically designed for each patient. This can help improve the effectiveness of the medication, reduce the risk of side effects, and save the patient money. Additionally, compounding pharmacists can create medications from multiple ingredients, which can help treat complex diseases. Lastly, compounding pharmacies have access to a wider variety of medications than traditional pharmacies. This means they can create medications that are unavailable through other pharmacies.
If you have psoriasis and are looking for a way to improve your treatment, a compounding pharmacy may be the best option for you. We can help you get the best possible quality medication. In addition, we can customize dosages and supplements based on the patient’s specific health needs. This means that you will get the most effective treatment possible. Moreover, compounding pharmacies typically have more experience prescribing medicines for psoriasis than other pharmacies, making finding prescriptions easier. By working with a compounding pharmacy, you can be sure that you get the best possible treatment for your skin.
Compounding pharmacists usually get trained to work on medications for pets, and because it's about dosage, it's about the type of medication that is sometimes quite different than for human suffering. Some may vary in cost, like a lot of human medications that can take in different doses. Ideally, the pharmacist should be trained in lectures with veterinarians to learn about the anatomy and physiology of the part that we are treating with the animal. A dog’s ears are completely different from a cat's ears or a baby’s ear. There are some anatomical considerations that one needs to become aware of to know what you're doing. So ideally, yes, the person should be trained to be familiar with what they are doing.
Nasal sprays can be prepared in a compounding pharmacy and they can look in many shapes and ways. So we can do antibiotic nasal sprays, we can do combinations with antibiotics, and we can very commonly do glutathione nasal sprays for brain detox so to speak. Glutathione is an antioxidant that can help people feel a little bit open and clear in the mind so to speak. We can do many so for nasal inspections and for hormonal replacement too. We do some estradiol nasal sprays, for people who have a feeling of the septum inside the nose where they can bleed easily. So certainly the sky is the limit.
As part of our expertise as a bioidentical hormone replacement, we make creams with estradiol, estriol, which is another form of estrogen that is important to the body and very common. We also compound with progesterone, so we can do estradiol cream for vaginal dryness or for hot flushes. Actually we have some estradiol creams, and that we do kinda like silicon base. That with a very, very tiny amount of estradiol might help with the fine lines. If you’re going to a party at night and then apply it, those fine lines can disappear a bit, and then you repeat in the next day if you want.
We compound for cystic acne. We have some combinations, where we can use clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide to kind of help clear the infection. There are medications that are a little more aggressive. Whether the doctor or the patient decides it is going to be that severe aggressive, we certainly can compound in different combinations. We can also have it very relaxed or we can control part of why it's happening and then can improve and control the acne in that way.
Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts are accepted in the pharmacy. Those are established by the IRS. Prescription medications are covered under those accounts and the person can come with their HSA card or FSA card and pay the compounded prescription or regular prescription with that card. Yes, we do accept those.
Compounding pharmacies are regulated by the Board of Pharmacy of the state. They have different kinds of regulations as a manufacturer of prescription medication. Manufacturers, they require what they call GMP or general manufacturing practice, there are so much standards. We try to adhere to those standards but it's been very costly. So to keep costs, say we kind of have a high standard following policies and procedures but without being GMP.
Compounding pharmacy does not require special permitting. The permit of being a pharmacy in the state of Florida can cover a can compound or not only, as they do a specialized compounding like a high skill that is external compounding then that case they require a different kind of permit. In our case, to especially serve the community will be within the scope of our regular pharmacy in business.
To choose a compounding pharmacy, the best way to find out how long the pharmacy has been in business, knowing what the pharmacy's medical expertise are. Some pharmacies require more expertise than others like they do a sterile compounding like injectable, so eye drops won't do anything of the sort, but you want a pharmacy that has been in the business for a while and has well ties with the community and the neighborhood where they are located.
All compounding pharmacies are similar, but not the same. So some are different and based on what they focus on business or what they do.
For a compounding prescription, you need a prescription, so everything in the state of Florida, even though it is for regular over-the-counter, it often requires a prescription. We do little propping suppositories for kids, but they require a prescription from a doctor.
We’re working on relocating to a new location in the near future. One of the most exciting parts of our opening is that we will have a drive-thru window and its own dedicated parking. The pharmacy is being designed with state-of-the-art equipment and a compounding laboratory along with a better service area.
Yes. Ideally, you should get both vaccines to be better protected against both viruses.
Dietary supplements that help the immune system include vitamin C and vitamin D. High-quality levels of these nutrients are important for the body to address the deficiency. In some cases, you may not have a deficiency, but your vitamin C and D levels might not be optimal.
It depends on the type of chronic pain. Some types of pain are neuropathic, which leads to burning or tingling or sharp pain. A compounding pharmacist can help relieve this discomfort with a cream containing neuropathic agents, such as gabapentin. Other types of pain concern inflammation, e.g. arthritis. We can add anti-inflammatory agents, like ketoprofen or diclofenac, to the mixture. If you need a numbing agent for your pain, we can also add numbing ingredients such as lidocaine. Muscle relaxants are another option. Our pharmacy can also create a formula containing several different types of ingredients depending on your needs.
The number one difference is the personalized attention you receive. Due to the level of care and detail we provide, our pharmacists essentially know their patients’ prescriptions by memory — if there are any changes to your formula, we remember them. We also maintain close relationships and trust with our patients, helping them navigate healthcare conversations and working closely with their doctors on prescriptions. Our patients often talk to us about issues they’re having, and we’re happy to come up with out-of-the-box solutions alongside their provider. Ultimately, we serve not only as pharmacists but as advisors to help patients get their health in order. At a big chain pharmacy, it is very difficult to receive this level of care due to the vast number of patients and prescriptions.
If a patient is taking too many pills, our first suggestion is to grind them and potentially mask the taste with food, like chocolate syrup, apple sauce, or yogurt. From there, we can begin to examine whether or not we can mix several medications together, depending on whether your doctor approves. Sometimes we can combine two or three medications; sometimes the medications are incompatible.
Once we get the prescription from your doctor, we can prepare a formula based on what your needs are. The formula you receive will be highly personalized. For instance, you may need to access a medication that is no longer on the market. If the raw materials for that medication are available, we can potentially recreate it.
Yes, you can get your prescription for HRT filled at a compounding pharmacy. At Marco Drugs, we fill prescriptions for progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone in different forms and combinations, including creams. The treatments are also highly customized. For example, if you have low estrogen and high progesterone levels, we can compound a medicine tailored to those needs.
Yes, Marco Drugs and Compounding does. However, be sure to check if your insurance company covers the compounded medicine.
The most common compounding medicine for adults is hormone replacement therapy since we can customize the hormone levels to a doctor’s requests. Our pharmacy also takes numerous veterinarian requests for medicines that pets have trouble taking. For babies and children, we often do simple anti-fever medications, oral ibuprofen, antibiotics, and suppository formulations.
There is often a valid concern about going to a reputable pharmacy. For pharmacies like ours, who have been in service for over 15 years, we guarantee that we test, check, and vet our FDA-approved suppliers. We check the certificate of analysis (CoA) to ensure that the raw materials we’re using are up to standard. We follow strict standard procedures to replicate every patient’s unique formula, so you receive the same medication every time you fill your prescription. All of our systems are computerized — we are required to scan every item to ensure that we’re using the correct ingredient every time. Our pharmacists also double check every formula to make sure they are correct.
While the FDA puts some guidelines in place for compounding pharmacies to follow, they do not provide direct oversight. The Board of Pharmacy is actually the direct government entity that regulates and monitors compounding pharmacists — we go through extensive training and supervision under this Board.
There are a few tricks for owners to get their pets to swallow their pills, like mixing pills with food or a treat like peanut butter. But when those tips don’t work, your best option is to work with a compounding pharmacy to tailor the medication to your pet. At Marco Drugs and Compounding, we can convert that medication into a paste or liquid. The solution could be flavored to taste like chicken, liver, banana, or peanut butter, to give a few examples.
Usually, hair loss after COVID is related to inflammation. To combat that inflammation, there are certainly compounded and customized treatments available. For example, a compounded treatment could include a mixture of minoxidil with a steroid or minoxidil with tretinoin and a steroid. It depends on your needs as a patient.
