Only go here if you have no other option. This Murphy’s market isn’t like others in humboldt. Prices are constantly wrong on the sales floor. Employees here (the ladies in particular) are incredibly rude for some reason. They give no eye contact and pretty much toss your change at you. I get that you might hate your job but that doesn’t give you the right to act rude towards a stranger, let alone a customer who is supporting your workplace. (Helping to pay for your wage) The place has been going downhill for the last 3 years.

Packed with amazing variety for a smaller store. It feels mellow with such a nice calm atmosphere. Hot Meat special today was steaming hot pork shanks that great grandma started eating in the car. Always something tasty in the deli.

I used to love getting The hot bar Chinese food on Mondays. I thought the chow mei was chewy, However this time it had a rubber band in it. The first people I talked to gave me a free sandwich card and told me to just fill up my carton at the hot bar. Like I want your food anymore. After they couldn't find Their manager, a checker had to page him over the loud speakers. He gave me my money back and tries to give me, guess what, a sandwich card. This place is pathetic if this is how you treat customers. I'm calling the health department.

Big chains can afford to price their stuff lower. Murphy's does have organic produce. I think they are great.
I am sure they would have rectified this mistake swiftly either with a refund or replacement. Finding stale food is disturbing and for the market embarrassing. It would have been helpful to return the product in order to hopefully encourage them to do better.
A small local market is always going to be more expensive. Grocery margins are very thin. Transportation, stocking and clerking in order to place a small bottle of soy sauce near your house costs. Cut out the middle man, put $20 worth of gasoline in your car and drive on over to Walmart. Check yourself out at the terminal and be sure to frame that dime you "saved" for the whole family to admire.
