On Thursday I board the train leaving Penn Station heading to High Point North Carolina. The bath on this was atrocious. The floor was sticky , it smelled of urine. On my return home the elevator was locked and the Amtrak employee inform me and other physically challenge passengers that we had to walk down steps. One lady was crying because she was so afraid she was going to fall. I have torn muscles in my hips and arthritis in my knees ,elbows and back..Walking down them steps cause my blood pressure to go up and gave me some anxiety. Thereβs a law have something to do disabilities. Amtrak read the law.

I'm ranking it low due to the TOTAL disregard for safety shown by the attendant/young woman as she opened passageway to train platform. She was more interested in her phone conversation than passenger safety. While going down the stairwell to the train, a freight train was simultaneously roaring through the opposite tracks, throwing up debris, wind, smoke etc. Adults and children were required to wait mere feet away on the boarding platform during this time. The passenger train arrived on time but once again no caution given to passengers other than don't cross yellow line. I'm not a frequent train rider but one stumble by a child or adult would have been disastrous!! And as other posts have noted, no nearby areas for food or snacks of any kind. The station itself was clean and nostalgic in appearance but seems somewhat isolated in case of an emergency or security issue. Bottom line:. Hold onto your children and WATCH your step!!

The train stations seem so orderly and well kept. The grounds here are impeccable, you feel secure and welcomed. The overall ambience of the station itself is a whole experience stand alone. The architecture is immaculate, it would honestly be a great place for some photography.( I don't recommend because this may be against the rules. Always ask before taking part in any actions. ) the bridges and the walk ways are super clean. The inside of the train station is kept very nice as well. Everything has a welcoming warm glow to it. Little to no trash on the grounds as well as super easy to navigate even for a beginner traveler. ( Or your first time to the station. ) Easy to purchase tickets at the self serve kiosk or at the desk. Chewing on times/ departures are easy to spot and update regularly with the ongoing schedule. One thing that I loved about visiting this location was that ALL of the state AND federal guidelines on the ongoing pandemic were clearly posted. The station also had the state and federal transportation rules clearly posted which also pertains to all things to be obeyed and covid protocol. Parking and access to a cab are amazingly easy to access. Parking in the side of the train station is free. Bus access is extremely close as well. They do have vending and snacks inside the stations lobby area. Overall a nice place to pick a friend up or to travel from.

Yes..amtrak will issue free parking permit just ask for it
Yes but not exactly to the city i want to travel, in my opinion is better to fly.
Yes
Park your car at the train station lot, after making arrangements: Are you riding the train? If you're parked as a customer with the hotels and businesses, your car is safe on their properties. During the day, parking on-street is OK. At night depends on where you park. Most people have not encountered problems; still, no matter where you are, better safe than sorry. And if you're a vendor or rep for the furniture market, High Point Police have special eyes for those parking spots. So you're probably gonna be pretty safe.
It all depends on what day yo go I went last year and a round ticket was 218.00 I went this year and the ticket was 363.00
Not directly. It requires a connection in Washington
It's usually in the $30-50 range based on seating availability
Yes
I bought mine online, amtrak.com There was someone on duty at the station during train hours so you could probably buy at the station too.
Sometimes the trip is delayed because the tracks have problems switching I've been delayed for five and a half hours.
You can go to Amtrak.com, enter your trip info (day you're traveling, number of passengers, etc.) Then you can choose the train you want and it will show you the fare for each of you and give you a chance to choose any discounts you might be eligible for. I hope this helps you, happy and safe travels!
In my experience, they dont ask for id: just a ticket...
Bus service from the train station to the airport. Call Amtrack
Sorry I do not know
If I'm not mistaken, Amtrak doesn't stop directly in the Bronx. From High Point, your round trip will ride on two trains: 1-The Crescent or Carolinian, and 2-The Empire Service or The Maple Leaf (for the final 29-minute stretch). Estimated cost for this leg: $200. Add around $70 for more-comfy business class. On your return, $140 ($210 business). But you're better off taking one train directly to Penn and taking the subway or bus from there to Yonkers. There are layovers between same-way trains, from 3-9 hours! I'd go on one train and subway it from Penn. More details are on the Amtrak web site.
Please call the High Point station for rates. Parking spaces are on High Street, from the station south to the corner at Elm.
I personally haven't.
