They don't give you enough to rent a studio apartment, let alone a one or 2 bedroom! It's bad enough landlords don't want to hear it, they don't help anyone when they are paying rates from over 5 years ago. You lose your voucher long before you can find someone with an empty apartment to take it!

Depending on what list you are on. If you are on the section 8 waiting list you just have to wait for a letter stating you have reached the top if the list. Than you have to come in for a screening to see if you income qualify, for section8 you are responsible for finding the unit to house in.. Public housing they will send you a letter when you reach the top as well and only for public housing you are able to call and check your waitlist number. Hope this was helpful
