First of all, this hotel should stop advertising itself as a Hotel, it was more like a hostel. The rooms were very very small and you can pretty much hear everything going around - people walking in lobby, people talking in room next to you. We had two rooms - one room didn't have a functional phone, the other room's bedside lamp didn't turn on the entire stay & neither the charging plug worked, the box spring was broken as the bed was literally sinking in the middle. The ACs are not functional, used to get very hot in the room. Lighting is inadequate - felt dark all the time. Thankfully during our stay it was 2 sunny days so that compensated the room lighting. The receptionist/staff was rude during our entire stay, straight away saying NO to all requests before even hearing them out. Even a tiny cheap roadside highway motel offers a coffee machine in the room or at least the service to provide hot water for drinking/making coffee. They declined to provide hot water. As it was the holidays, everything close by for getting prints was closed - so we requested at the lobby to print out 2 pages as it was needed at the airport while checking in. But they declined that too. Lastly, we went to the bar inside the hotel around 10:30pm. We ordered 2 cocktails - none of the cocktails had even a hint of alcohol. It tasted like drinking sugar syrup with lots of ice. Will not recommend at all, specially at those prices you are better off staying in Hilton/ Holiday Inn which includes breakfast as well as coffee machines in the rooms.

Rooms are small, but very nice and very well thought out. The use of bunk beds to maximize floor space is very clever. Having control over the temperature in your room is also very nice. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

Got a room beside the elevator shaft, which produced a lot of noise, probably due to the mechanisms of the old elevator. This was a dark spot for an otherwise comfortable and affordable stay. The room was well designed, with all the necessities present despite its small size, which can also be said of the bathroom. Just be sure to bring your own water as it isn't available in your room and getting some at the lobby will cost you.

Perfect room for visiting the city, small room with just the essentials. Very affordable in comparison to other hotels in the area. The bar is nice, crowded though, even if you stay at the hotel you might want to make reservations. The bar staff is great. Front desk people were sub par.

The first package is free; there is a handling fee of $5 per package after the first one. Please make sure your name is on the package when it is shipped!
No they do not have a gift shop but you can purchase Freehand clothing.
if it is very safe you just need your google maps and the subway stations are good so you do not miss out and in the last case uber app or lyft
Great question! Sorry i have no answer to that one though.
We do not offer transportation. We are close to the CTA Red line Grand stop or you can take a cab, uber/lyft, or Airport Express shared shuttle from the airport to us! Call or email us for more detailed directions!
Food can be brought in to the lounge before the bar opens and to your room. There is currently no kitchen.
Call them
Yes. You can leave the luggage in the front desk. The have a small room for that.
I believe it depends on the bank and if the booking was done through a service or directly from Freehand.
You can or you can buy one they sell at the front desk for either $2 or $5 can't remember the price.
18 or older
They have a good amount of space for luggage there
It is a hostel, but private rooms are available. It is the nicest hostel I've stayed at in the United States. Ask for a room facing Ohio Street, or you run the risk of facing a multilevel parking garage. The rooms, staff, and location cannot be beat. Enjoy your stay!
The lobby is very lush and very popular. In the evenings it becomes a very trendy nightclub. The lockers in the room are good sized - with hooks for hanging shirts, etc. I highly recommend not bringing oversized luggage. The rooms are beautiful, but small. Four in a room with a ton of bags and you end up tripping over everything and one another. Be sure to call before you arrive and request a higher room facing Ohio Street. You will have beautiful city views. Enjoy!
Each room comes with it's own bathroom, which has a shower
No. The Hilton on Delaware does. Right in the Magnificent Mile and very affordable.
Yes, a small little kitchen service. There is coffee, juice, bread and jams, cereal and fruits. They also have refrigerator for the guests to keep personal food and cook for yourself.
I always take a taxi. Depending on the time it can be up to an hour of travel.
They have daily parking at the parking garage 1/2 block away. It is $49/day but you have in/out privileges.
The beds are comfortable and clean
we have a few rooms with bathtubs. You would need to book a King room and let us know when you book so we can add the request for a tub!
no, we do not. We are close to the beach if the weather is good out!
You're 2 blocks from Michigan Avenue it's a great location👍
We stayed in a Queen size room. There wasn't any space to put a roll away bed. It's a great hotel, but it seems more for the childless crowd. However, I would definitely call them and ask if there's some sort of accommodations that could be made! It's a great hotel. Maybe your family could rent a whole hostel room? Then you'd have four bunks.
Cabs are simple
It's two blocks away from Michigan Avenue. About 0.2 miles, not even a 5 minute walk from Freehand. It's a great location.
