It is a nice spot, but I had a very poor first-time experience π. The servers were nice but the service was extremely slow. I recall seeing 3 other tables (I got there before them) get served and some even finished eating while I was still waiting to get my cup of tea (which I had to order twice because the server forgot). I easily spent 1hr+ there, but most of it was just waiting to be acknowledged and treated as nicely as the other tables around me π₯. I was so hungry and was looking forward to the food, only to be extremely underwhelmed by the presentation and the lack of flavour. I nibbled on some of it and promptly requested a box and the check as I had to get to work. Once I had the chance, I added flavour to my Portage Bay Cafe leftovers and finally enjoyed the π₯, π₯& π₯ π

Good varied selection for brunch. Nice selection of Benedict's. My wife had the Seattle Benedict which she loved. My sons had the bacon Benedict and both of them cleaned their plates. I had the shakshuka, which was decent, however I wish the feta was bigger than crumbles. The lack of an espresso machine was disappointing.

Portage bay rightfully prides them selves as a organic & seasonal breakfast joint. I ordered the California Benedict and it was lovely, but missed a little mark on what I expect a Benedict sauce to taste like; it was lovely, but too creamy and not eggy enough. The potatoes that came as my side were also some of the better breakfast potatoes Iβve gotten around Seattle. They have a seasonal fresh bar that comes with pancakes and other breakfast types so that you can top your order with fresh berries, granola, whipped cream, whatever. Parking at this location is hectic, and the spaces are tight. When I got there at 7:45am before open there was 15 people already at the door on a weekday. I recommend reservations because otherwise the wait may be too long. Iβll definitely be returning.

Waited ~30-40 minutes on Saturday morning around 11 am. The food came pretty fast and the portion is more than enough for two people. The benedict was pretty basic (itβs not bad) and the french toast is actually really good!! You could also DIY to add more cream or fruits!

About one block west are the Park & Ride lots under the freeway. During the week these are pretty full but i can usually find a spot. On the weekends it's a lot easier to find spots in there.
