I used to work as a safety emissions inspector (responsible for passing/failing cars for safety/emissions and dishing out stickers). In order for your check engine or any other cpu check light to be reset on your vehicle after you have the work done to fix the problem, you must first drive your car for roughly a half hour (preferably high way miles). This process allows for the cpu to reset and your dash light to disappear.

You can transfer or cancel the plates on RMV's website. If you cancel them you can just destroy the plate or keep it was a souvenir

That's strange. I went for renewal of my driver's license 2 weeks ago (a few days after you) and I received my new License (Real ID) in only 8 days. I would suggest for a quick response you call them to see if something has gone wrong in the process of maling, because RMV employees might not check the comments here to answer your question.

If its just a renew as long as you did the online app you should be good just login to your rmv account and check to see if its active if not they will tell you what else you need online after you login... Best bet is to login to the myrmv page and see whats missing

Though, I believe if you are in the facility, and in line before 5:00 with all necessary documentation, that, they may service you after 5:00 P.M.
