Berkshire Athenaeum hosts the Pittsfield, MA, Library and book sales. The sale was held in November and was a return to indoor sales after COVID. Masks are still required, but well worth the protection in order to once again peruse the used books. My husband and I make the trip whenever we are able due to the high quality and variety of books for sale. It is definitely one of our favorite sales, and we mark the calendar in anticipation of the next one which will be in March, 2022. Enjoy!

Gorgeous, well-stocked library with accessible and diverse materials and helpful staff. Can’t wait to come back.

Yes, we do!
Great questions! Yes, for Earth Day we have partnered with GoodWill for electronics recycling (no old televisions) through Friday, April 30, 2021. (You can recycle your electronics year-round at GoodWill locations.) Items should be brought INSIDE to the blue electronics recycle bins at our Wendell Avenue Circulation Desk. We accept book donations (nothing soiled or sticky, no magazines, no encyclopedia sets) on Monday & Wednesday mornings, 10am-noon, at our Bartlett Avenue garage. We have tremendous Friends volunteers who open the garage doors and accept your book donations. We ask donors to have the books packed up in boxes, since we get so many. Thank you for supporting the library!
Thanks for asking! (Answered April 5, 2021) The Library has limited browsing and computer use for up to 1 hour on Tuesdays/Thursdays at 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm, and 5pm & Saturdays at 10am, noon, and 2pm. Curbside & Lobby services are available Monday-Thursday 10am-7pm & Friday-Saturday 10am-4pm. Online resources are always available.
I’m afraid not.
Yes! It's official name is Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute, so it is on our list alphabetized by "S" (instead of "C"). You can see all of our passes at [https://www.pittsfieldlibrary.org/how-do-i/museum-passes] And you can make your reservation at [https://www.eventkeeper.com/mars/tkflex.cfm?CFID=6290572&curOrg=PITTSFLD]
Yes, the library will take them and sell them at their annual book sale coming in July. See their website for donation details.
Hi, Margaret, We'll update our list. Also, just to make sure we're clear -- the book sale runs March 11-27. We have more information on our Friends page, including a form to make a new appointment: https://www.pittsfieldlibrary.org/support/friends-of-the-berkshire-athenaeum Thank you for being in touch!
The library is open to the public. You can either order them through their website and pick them up or you can go in person during business hours which they open at 10a.m. for seniors and 11 to the general public.
They are providing curbside pick up, and have one checkout open, at least for picking up books on reserve. No public entry allowed yet. Call for more info.
Sorry to hear that you lost your card. Stop by and we'll get you a replacement (there may be a fee, depending on whether you are in-state or out-of-state).
Yes, and it's a great one.
We have parking lots near both our Wendell & Bartlett Avenue entrances; there is also on-street parking on both streets.
We work with all of our eligible patrons to get them library cards; we do have options for guests to use computers for those who don't qualify for a library card.
Yes they can send a fax for you for a nominal charge. Not sure how much the charge is though
Depends on how many years..if it's too many years they'll have you get a new card.
