I LOVE the Cliffs @ LIC. Incredible variety of climbing for all styles and skill levels. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff, with excellent lessons (limited to class sizes of 4). Quality gym equipment both specialized for climbing and for proper lifts (deadlifts / squats). And above all, the patrons that frequent the Cliffs are lovely people. Friendly, open to sharing tips or hints when tackling a ‘problem’ (bouldering runs for those who are unfamiliar with the lingo). If you are seeking a climbing gym in the city, this is the way!!

The staff really do their best to work with you on payment questions. I’ve had a really good experience with the customer service here over the last several years with people helping me pause my membership for a surgery, alerting me to cheaper membership options, and generally being generous where possible. It really adds to the chill experience of climbing when payment issues are less of a stressor.

Great facility. I usually climb at the Harlem location but wanted to do some top rope climbing. The staff is really friendly and they do a good job teaching safe belaying practices. It’s also convenient because if you don’t have a partner they have several auto belays. Even though it gets pretty busy I’ve never had to wait too long or been unable to find someplace to climb. There are also some really cool routes especially if you do lead climbing. I haven’t done any bouldering here but it looks like they have a lot of routes. It also seems a bit more claustrophobic than the Harlem location. Overall, I really like the location. It’s easy to get to and very spacious. The biggest downside is how busy it gets.

The Cliffs LIC is a great all-around climbing gym. There’s plenty of bike parking out front and there’s even an indoor bike room right by the entrance when you walk in. …

Yes to all. And there are free tampons, though you did not ask. Bring your own lock. But also a lot of people do not bring locks, and people usually don't steal (really, never). You open a locker with stuff in it and you just close it and look for the next empty one.
You can find their prices on their website: https://lic.thecliffsclimbing.com/#home-pricing The membership is a year long contract at 115 per month currently. You can get other packages at different rates.
Yes, booking is required on the weekends. You can book a spot here: https://app.rockgympro.com/b/widget/?a=list&iframeid=&mode=p&random=5f581292f250b&widget_guid=4afaf9f6d3a54d8290cb14c4e77a3b83
That could be arranged. They have personal trainers that work with kids, and there's a community for climbers of all abilities there.
Right at 3pm is not be crowed it but it gets very busy Friday night, especially after 5pm. If you want to avoid crows, go before 1pm any week day.
30$ day passes. Just bouldering you can basically just start immediately. Top ropes you will need someone to show you the basics to climb. But you need to take a class to learn to belay someone on your own.
There's no dedicated parking lot, but there is street parking in the neighborhood.
It doesn't
Hi Ivy, thank you so much for your inquiry. You do not need to pay to belay in the gym. You will need to fill out a Participant Areement and if you are not belay-certified, you will need to take a belay test at The Cliffs. If you do decide to climb at any point after, we ask that come up to the desk to pay.
Hi Irina, We don't offer a private party room for pizza and cake but do set up tables and chairs next to the private climbing area. Please reach out to us or stop by for more details and to see the space. Thanks
I would speak to your Dr first. We hope to see you soon!
I would say 14 , you can't buckle and unbuckle the harness unless your 14 and over.
If your kid is in college, there's a discount. Until then, $30 is still worth it. You can spend the whole day there. A tip: find a member who's willing to donate a guest pass... Then it's free :P
It's bad. Parking is good at 6. Otherwise there is a ticket risk.
Hi Jiahua, There are no special prices for children. All day passes are $30.00. If you are a college student, first responder, or active military member then you are eligible for a $26.00 day pass. Thanks! The Cliffs
Staff at the front desk can help you with waivers or you can usually use the tablets on the wall located to the right of the entrance
