I’m so disappointed in the direction this gym has headed. I joined last year and loved it. The staff was always kind, it wasn’t ever overly crowded, generally clean. Over the last 3 months or so I’ve noticed a decline in all areas. Yesterday was the final straw for me. I went in to workout with my daughter in tow (kids care opens at 9am and I’ve been awake and ready to go since 7:30am) only to get there and be told I cannot work out because their staff member called in sick. Totally fine, people call out and short staffing is a rampant issue everywhere. However, the “manager” (I use the term loosely as he is 26 at most and honestly, super rude) doesn’t offer a solution. To me, any good manager will step in and step up and run the kids care for the next 3 hours so other moms/dads can get a workout in for a bit on sanity and alone time. All he did was shrug and tell me he was “too busy” today to step in because he “had packages to sign for.” Seriously?? I told him I was unhappy because I pay extra for my membership for kids care and asked if she could sit quietly next to me while I got in a quick workout. His suggestion to me was to drop down to the membership without the kids care- sir, that doesn’t help me because I HAVE A KID! I can’t exactly give her away 😅. Just the entire exchange had me realizing this was no longer a gym I wanted to belong to if that’s how they treat their members.

This “gym” has been texting me for over two years and refuses to stop. They act more like telemarketers than gym employees. I was a member at their Providence location, which closed without notice. Somehow the Lincoln location has my contact information. I never signed up nor agreed to change locations. I have made many attempts to correct this issue. The managers, Josh and Matt may be fictional characters. I have asked to speak with them, and they always seem to have left for the day or are not in yet. I’ve left my name and number and asked for a call back, which has never happened. I have filed a few complaints with Rhode Island attorney general, and I will be filing suit if the harassment continues. Avoid this location. Avoid maxx fitness. They text asking for money but hide from even a phone call.

BUYER BEWARE! Especially if you sign up specifically for the KidZone option. I signed up in June and the first time I went with my child it went smoothly, BUT after that it was horrible. The second time I went the person who works the KidZone was 45 min late! Then the next week they weren’t going to be there because it was their birthday. Ok…. And for the last three months the gym has been unable to consistently provide the service. When I went in to cancel, I was told I had signed a contract and would pay a fee. I pointed out that I signed a contract to which they have been unable to keep their end of the agreement. When asked to speak to cooperate, I was told they are almost impossible to get ahold of. So basically the gym wants to break their contractions agreement but won’t let me break mine. I don’t know if people understand how hard it is to maintain a consistent workout schedule when you are a single mother of two young children. I am completely disgusted with this gyms lack of professionalism. DO NOT sign up if you are a parent and plan to use KidZone.

Maxx fitness is by far the best gym i’ve ever been to! Andrew is my personal trainer and he is also the best personal trainer ever! He cares so much about my goals and motivates me so much! He’s not only helped with my body goals and fitness but he’s also helped me so much on my nutrition! They also have a great 3 month membership for all college students! I highly recommend this gym to anyone that needs a positive and safe environment to workout in.
