I take my almost 3 year old granddaughter to story time for young kids - even through much of the pandemic ( masks were required). It is a wonderful program for young kids to be with other young kids. Besides books, they do some songs & dancing. It's wonderful.

I’ve never seen such an establishment run so poorly, I have gotten assaulted twice by individuals outside of the premises for my wallet and jacket. The staff is incoherent and utters the wrong rules when trying to sit at different places when it’s busy. Go to Lunenburg or anywhere else.

I love the Fitchburg Public Library. I’ve been using this library for 70 years, of course not always located where it is now. Back in the 50s we all loved when the bookmobile came to our neighborhood. It was a regular occurrence and one everyone looked forward to. When I became a mother I brought my daughter and her friends to the library on a regular basis and she now brings her 2 children. The staff has change, the place has changed but it’s still the great place it’s always been welcoming families of readers of all ages!

The staff in the main library were very nice and helpful. But i was very disappointed with the childrens librarian. I could tell she was discriminating towards me while she never greeted me or nor did she offer to tell me whats new in the kids sections, but then i see the next non asian person walk in the door after me then she is delighted to greet and tell them about the new books that came in. And ive been there a handful of times with my kids. Also i tried ordering a book from them, had to do it twice because supposedly they thought i didnt want it the first time around, but i even gave them my library card the first time to reserve it...then had to wait 3 weeks to get the wrong book.

Yes . We moved to Fitchburg recenlty and I wasn't sure about this library as we're so use to the leominster library..but we love it here now.... this library is great. Everyone is so kind and lots of cool things they have to offer. Children's librarian are awesome! Easy to check in computers too. Call them to find out more!
Our hours remain the same with the exception of Summer Saturdays (10am-2pm), which is in July and August.
We do. Here are the instructions. Fitchburg Public Library appreciates the donation of GENTLY used books, CDs, audiobooks on CD, etc. Popular reading paperbacks are welcome at any time. Donations need to be brought when the library is open. Please limit your donations to one or two boxes per week and do not put them in the book or media return boxes outside. The following guidelines have been established: Donations become the property of the library. Donations will be evaluated for addition to the collection, and are subject to the same criteria as all other materials. Donations not added to the permanent collection will be given to the Friends of the Library for their book sale, passed on to other libraries, or discarded if necessary. Visit this site for more information such as a list of what we do not accept. http://www.fitchburgpubliclibrary.org/236/How-to-Donate
Contact the library itself
We do have a copy. It has been put on the hold shelf for you. If you need to get a library card please bring a photo id and a piece of mail with your current address on it and postmarked within the last 30 days. In the future it is best to call the library or access our online catalog.
I am equally surprised at this. We go several days a week for day time play and also after school activities. My kids have grown to love all staff. I would also suggest giving it another try. There is so much offered there :)
The library is not currently hiring, however, if you are interested in a library job you should look on MBLC.org. Many library jobs are listed. All city positions (including FPL jobs) are posted on the City Of Fitchburg's municipal page and all applications must be submitted through the website.
The card do not have photos. They give a credit card sized card along with a keychain card.
Yes! It is $1 for the first page and &. 50 for every page thereafter. We are not, however, able to accept, only send.
Yes. There are always books for sale in the children's room and once a month the Friends of the Library's book sale includes children's books as well.
It is 60 minutes. If no one is waiting you may ask for additional time if needed.
You should call the library (with your library card) for this as a hold can be placed for you if we do not have it on our shelf.
