Great ride. Beats the traffic

The MBTA commuter rail service is a Godsend. It opens up Boston with the surrounding areas. For example we used Plymouth as a base and the used the rail from Kingston into Boston. Why? Because who wants to drive in Boston? The cars are reasonably clean and comfortable. The only real issues are purchasing the tickets. They have to be bought on an app or website. It's paybyphone.com. I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, and if possible take advantage of any weekend specials.

The staff on this line are great. The parking quite large and a pick up and drop off area next to the train which makes it easy to pick up my partner who is blind. The parking fee isn't too bad either and it cheaper that the bus I normally take from sagamore to south station. The 10 dollar weekend pass is nice as well!

Okay..I suspect only a tourist would rate a Commuter Train with 5-Stars...But we really enjoyed our trip from Plymouth to Boston on the train, especially the Morning Ride. The Conductor looked and talked like pure Boston...expected Mark Wahlberg to step on the train any minute. Our 6 year old who is a train Fanatic was in Heaven!!!

If you use the Pay By Phone app, it's $4 Monday - Friday and $2 on the weekends. If you don't use the app, they will send you an invoice in the mail and it's $1 more.
Hi Jeff. I will send the app mTicket. Download that app and alot of questions will be answered. I have 2 tickets in my "wallet". After you board, the conductor will view it and you'll be all set. Also, parking is $2/day and you'll need the app Passport to pay your parking. There will be a code for you to enter when you pick your spot. Pretty easy. Try to get there early as train generally runs on time. I go Kins/SoStation, get to Northstation/Newburyport.
