That is silverplate. Much of the value of silver plate is from the copper , it is plated in silver but underneath the silverplate it usually copper which really does not amount to much. So it can be scrapped out but the best way is to resell the set usually to someone who wants to use it as such. If you would like a bid please call or stop by, thanks!

Is the sterling jewelry or flatware or some other type of sterling like bars or coins? It can vary according to how much you sell at one point and the form that it is. If you can call me tomorrow at the shop between 12 and 5 pm that would be best. yes, we are a small family business buying precious metals since 1980. Please call during open hours for pricing, we pay according to how much gold you have to sell (up to about 85% of actual melt value). we are currently open 12-5 Monday thru Friday, sorry no weekend hours. Sometimes other times in the morning are available by appt.
