The Doe Fund's Ready, Willing & Able program is magnificently phenomenal. I'm a "Class of 2001" alumnus and I had the honor and privilege to serve as staff for 5 years both as a C.I.P. site-supervisor from 2002-2004 and a House Manager from 2004-2007. I'm forever grateful to God, George & Harriet McDonald for developing their brilliant life-saving organization - The Doe Fund that began in 1985 and has helped thousands of men since the opening of 520 Gates Avenue - Brooklyn back in 1990. Since then The Doe Fund has expanded Ready, Willing & Able programs to Washington, D.C. opened 1992 and closed 2000, Harlem 1997-present, Jersey City, NJ opened 1998 and closed 2010, Philadelphia 2001-present and Porter Avenue - Brooklyn in 2003-present. I can only hope that The Doe Fund considers returning to the State of New Jersey because it was the best program ever developed here. The Doe Fund is truly way ahead of its time but its right on time. So to anyone especially in New York and Philadelphia take full advantage of the opportunities that The Doe Fund has to offer you because most states aren't as fortunate to have such privileges as you do. May God continues to bless George, Harriet, the staff and The Doe Fund on making ongoing progress and saving lives!

They've helped me shovel snow and have cleaned in front of my house without me asking. Good neighbors

This program is great for getting your life together certs references, they give you food, automatic jobs and they pay you for working. its only 13$ an hour but hey its better than what you make now so go for it. just don't use your cellphones or do drugs i never used my cell on shift and i don't drink or do drugs so yeah...the ones who did use their phones they got suspend for 5 days. if you do drugs or drink and they piss test you. you're getting 30 days after a while they kick you out. if you are in the day program you got one chance to mess up and your done. This program has plenty of sites to work at metro tech good for hour good supervisors sadly i only worked there a few times Bag team worked there once because i had worked a 12 hour shift the night before they gave me 6 hours i was good with that The Hudson is good for people who love to sleep until 12-1pm and can do a 3-11pm all the supervisors there are good accept 1. Im not gonna say his name but if you work on the Hudson you will find out who im talking about. dont ever think that you are safe in there that person uses you, gasses your head up and if you slip up one time he's gonna throw you under the bus and you may get suspended for a day for something so small even though you busted your behind in the cold or heat lucky for me that never happened. he almost did not give me his personal number for a reference after i did things that were not even in the job description. His boss had to make him give me his number so i could use him as a reference don't let the Hudson side track you from what you really came there for. do your job and abide by the rules but dont brown nose you came there for money, a cert, a job or references.

They will help you find work . But curfew I believe is 10pm unless you work at night and you need an overnight pass
You used to be able to stay at the shelter while working . Give Porter Ave or Harlem 1 a call.
You can drop off clothes during the business hours of Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. On the weekends you can drop off at the hours of 9am-11am
