So have it 3 stars strictly for the mosquitos.... We only made it about a mile and a half in because off all the mosquitos.... That's with spraying ourselves down in bug spray four times.... Woke up this morning and counted almost 30 bites on my shoulders and back. Not including the ones in my legs. Still beautiful! I will be going back in the winter to try again!!!

Really great hike with lots of scenic views, shade, and great time in the trees. Not crowded, especially weekdays and mornings. It’s mostly flat with a few parts that are narrow. Very dog-friendly. Watch out for mosquitos in the summer as well as the blackberry bramble. On my most recent trip there were several downed trees blocking the path that could easily be climbed over for most mobile people but could be a challenge to some. The lighthouse/beach at the end of the hike is a great spot to sit and hang out for awhile, or have lunch. (Bring something to sit on if you plan to stay awhile.) Ambient noises include geese flying overhead, crunching leaves, boat horns, gunshots from hunters. FYI you will need a wilderness pass for parking.

A lovely trail with a neat destination. Not many people if you get there earlier, and takes a good couple hours to complete if you don’t stop.

Easy hike. Peaceful. We saw 4 sea otters and a bald eagle that was maybe 30 yards away. We had a nice break at the lighthouse watching the sea otters and a barge heading up the Columbia.

No, you're not allowed to camp. I actually don't think there's any camping at all on Sauvie Island
