We are not local. We used the directions with this page and ended up on F St. It has private property signs all over. Not sure what happened but we did Not get to the trail.

Great place to walk or snowshoe. They keep the lights on till about 10 so it's nice to go for an evening walk. I just don't like the fact that a small part of the trail overlooks the Northway and you can hear a lot of traffic. But other than that very well kept trails.

I don't have a ton of experience cross-country skiing however, this made for a nice easy outing. The trails were well groomed and the light made it possible to continue skiing into the early evening. Going on and warm day was wonderful and the surroundings were very picturesque with a lot of flat wide areas along with some rolling hill type trails as well.

A wonderful public park with groomed cross country ski trails for classic and skate. The groomers are volunteers. The trails are lit for night skiing. They have expanded the signage which seems to have prevented people from walking on the trails. They post condition reports just search for 'Friends of Cole's Woods'.

There is a lit five kilometer loop used for high school races. There are additional trails that connect with that loop so you have plenty to ski on. Despite the lack of long climbs and descents the loop is rolling terrain with a steep little wall which provides a good workout. There are flats as well. You cannot beat the trail fee!
Park at the back of Aviation Mall and follow the path that enters Coles Woods near the Queensbury water plant and tower. Walk towards the buildings that are under the tower and you will see a path that goes right along the outside of the fence. You can also enter the forest by parking at the bend of the road after you drive past the YMCA. I recommend you take a picture of the trail map because there are several paths that are not on the map so it is easy to get confused. I love it there in the morning between 7 and 9 when there are almost no other people and the early light filters down through the tall trees. If you would like to get an glimpse of the trails, check out my post from awhile back on my Facebook page; A Day Well Spent. I will also be doing a Zoom presentation for the Conklin Center on April 27. The focus will be on some of the places near Glens Falls and perhaps a few day trips where you can take an easy walk and see wildflowers and other interesting things.
