Recent retirees, we have been pleasantly surprised by the service received from the Social Security Administration office in Washington Heights (since moved to Inwood) before the pandemic, and on the phone with the local office during the height of the virus. But this review is about a recent visit to the Hudson, New York office, near where our daughter lives. I walked in mid-morning without an appointment. My wife and I were the only ones in the waiting room, and we saw a very helpful woman within minutes. She helped me process a somewhat lengthy form, pointing out which sections to fill in and which to ignore. All this was through plexiglas, but I still felt we had good communication. The agent told me the Hudson office used to be busy at times, but has been slow since the re-opening in April 2022. So if you need some personal service and are in the Hudson Valley (or even in the city), give the Hudson SSA a try.

Mrs. Sweet is an amazing, dedicated, patient professional. She answered all my questions completely and helped me effectively communicate what my disability presents like.

SSN Office in Hudson NY was untruthful about the completion of SS card replacement request. This has led to several delays of employment. The process started 9 July 2021. Initially told cards were in the mail approx. 26 July only to talk to a supervisor and discovered the cards were not processed. Supervisor did have cards processed and delivered causing a delay for military induction by 3 months. Passports were requested by this office and to date have not been returned. Several calls have been placed to recover the passports. After one week of leaving voicemails a call was finally returned. We were told that the passports were mailed and the called ended. If the original request for SS card was not processed as this office said, I can’t help but think the passports were not mailed. A family vacation overseas has been paid for, but it seems a large amount of money will be forfeited because of the missing passports not returned by the Hudson Office. I am a 30 year Army veteran and federal employee with the US Department of Commerce (DOC). The Hudson Office customer service and their attention to detail has failed a tax payer. My agency and I'm sure SS Admin do not tolerate my fore mention concerns nor agree with unprofessional attitudes shown in Hudson Office. It is my believe that we want to do our best to service our customer’s needs; conducting business with the upmost respect for clients; and in a timely fashion. It is totally embarrassing to me to submit a complaint about our federal workers.

I went to this office on March 28th in order to obtain an authorization code needed to open a my Social Security account online. I arrived at the office at about 2:15, took a number, and was finished 20 minutes later. The woman who helped me was informed and very thorough. Her advice worked and on the next day I successfully opened the account and was able to apply for Medicare benefits online. I think the key is to go to this facility when it is least busy as noted on the Google map.

You can replace it online through their website . A name change is completely different
I did not need an appointment, just go there the security guard directs you to sign in on the kiosk and you are then given a number. My visit was really quick and very pleasant
No appointment needed and was a seamless process Just be sure to check the office hours. Is this the closest office based in your address? I remember them saying one needs to visit the office closest to them. Best wishes.
I would call the social security office.. just so you get accurate information..
If he just needs a replacement, he should bring his unexpired NJ license. New card will be received in 7-10 business days.
Go to the office. They will assist you in getting a new card. Just make sure you have a valid ID.
I need a replacement card, do I need to make a Appointment?
Can I change the amount I receive from ss
