Martin van Buren was the eighth U.S. president and former NY Governor, amongst other prestigious elected and appointed offices. This house is where he retired after a notable career, in the town of his birth. The tour guide rangers are very knowledgeable about the personage and local history.

Beautiful old mansion. Great tour! You see all 3 floors. Wonderful guide. Full of knowledge & history but kept tour moving! Highly recommend!

Had a nice visit here today.The house is really neat to see and go inside.Short little tour of the first floor was very good and educational.The ranger was nice and the other guests were friendly as well.

Outstanding, knowledgeable, and engaging National Park tour guides lead the tour of two floors of the house. There's a self guided tour of the grounds that is also very informative.
