This place is definitely worth a visit. If you love history, oddities, and supporting real people who are passionate about saving a little piece of old Florida, please go see the Wonder House. Krislin is amazing at telling the story of this one of a kind place and the passion she is putting into restoring this little piece of (almost) forgotten history is inspiring and nothing short of extraordinary (and she is doing it all on a teachers salary!) Note that you will definitely need to make your tour reservations in advance. But this really is the perfect day trip from Orlando or Tampa.

Took the tour and it was very interesting, lots if knowledgeable facts and cool things with the house. Can't wait to go back again once it's fully restored. Loved this piece of FL history.

Such a fun Christmas experience with an over w hour tour of 3 of the 4 upper stories of this unique house off odd inventions and design in Bartow, FL! We had our 6 + 9 year old and they enjoyed it as well- especially seeing wild things in jars and the Christmas Estonia Themed treats! They are doing such. Good job renovating this place and can wait to see it again for Halloween Ghost Tour vibes!

What an amazing house! Our tour was over two hours long and full of fascinating information about the history of the house and its owners. Kris gave an introduction to the house and then Drew was a great guide and you can tell he has a ton of passion for the house and its place in Florida lore. Joan of Bark (such a well-behaved pup) escorted us around as well when she didn't chase after lizards. The story about locals believing German U-Boats were docking underground at the Wonder House just goes to show ya...Barnum was right. ;-) Had such a great time, I plan on visiting again...if just to see the Christmas lights. =)

Questions & Answers

I know the plan is to offer tours, but have you considered opening it as event space? One or 2 weddings a month could offset your bills. The garden is so Beautiful.

I thought the same thing Andrea! This space is perfect for events. They could really make way more than their minimum hosting weddings and parties. Best wishes in the remodel!!

Bartow was a unsuspected area for your lovely home. My wife and I would love to see your home. We come to Mulberry often, our Son and his family live there. When come to visit again, we will make it a point to come and tour your home.

Tonya is correct. We didnt get what we wanted but we were given limited approval to give limited tours on Fri, sat, and Sunday. We still have one more safety inspection to go through, but we are hoping to be open soon. Thank you!

If you Google search Wonder House, at the bottom of the page you can book tours at a cost of $20 per person on the dates they have available. The new highly motivated owners have lovingly renovated and period furnished this wonder of Florida and generously share it's wonders with everyone. I'll be back in March to share the experience with my mum. Enjoy!!
