Great library and librarians. Very helpful. Nice clean and quiet.

The library is located in an affluent neighborhood where I reside. The librarians are all Caucasian and three things have happened that tells me that they treat people based on their skin color. This is unacceptable and I will be reporting their combined actions to the Administration Office. They have separated the kids computer area from the adult computer area and this seemed to keep the noise level down. This location's computers shutdown 30 minutes before closing and therefore I continued to sit at the computer to prepare my outgoing mail to drop at the Post Office. At some point near 15 minutes before closing, a thin brown headed librarian with long hair turned the lights off in the area where I sitting but she knew I was there. Before I exited the library, I asked her and the Mexican head librarian, why would they turn the lights out on me. The Caucasian lady with the long brown hair replied, " At a certain time we have to turn the lights off." Really, when a patron is in the area?! I am certain she knew better than her actions. I returned back to the library again after the 8:00 hour and at 8:45 a Caucasian patron was in the computer area with me and the lights were not turned off. As the Caucasian patron was leaving, they turned to her to say Goodnight but they said nothing to me when I left two minutes after her, in fact, they didn't even bother to look up. I said a mutual Goodnight to security, who ironically was an African American. I welcome the challenge to advocate for change in a Public Library.

Beautiful library.... plenty of desks and tables with the latest books. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. There are places outside to sit down with ample parking. I enjoy my time there.

Claims to require masks but it's seemingly not enforced for patrons and security Which seems counter productive to their whole coronavirus testing facility on premises

To see open positions at our libraries, go to our website homepage and scroll to the bottom of the page. Select "LS&S Career Opportunities" at the top of the third column. (Google does not allow links in Q&A answers -- if you need further guidance, contact us on social media or through our contact page!)
West Osceola Library has study rooms available that you can book on the same day, or one day in advance. Poinciana Library, Hart Memorial Library, and St. Cloud Library study rooms are only available for same-day reservations. Buenaventura Lakes Library has a large, shared quiet room that is closed off from the main area. It's not bookable by itself, and patrons can come and go as they need. And finally, all branches except Kenansville have spaces that are available to book if you need something far in advance or if you have a group of 3+ who need the space. To see those, select "Book A Room" under the "How Do I?" dropdown on our website. Let us know if you have any questions!
Hi Lisa, NOMI Health provides walk-up antigen tests at West Osceola library every Tuesday. PCR tests are only provided as a follow-up if the patient tests positive on the antigen test.
When I was there it had a pop up testing site with over 500 people waiting to use it
Hi Nicholas, It is Osceola Library System’s responsibility and mission to make available the widest possible diversity of information, books, and materials. If you see a lack of representation of a particular viewpoint, we encourage you to use our Recommend For Purchase form, found under the “How Do I?” dropdown on our website. If you would like to request reconsideration of materials in our collection, you can ask staff at any library branch for a Request For Reconsideration form. You can also request this by using the contact form or email address found on the Contact Us page on our website. Our Collection Development Policy is public, and is linked at the bottom of our website under Policies. An outline of our stance on the reconsideration and requests of library materials can be found on pages 10-12. (We realized this answer never posted due to Google prohibiting links in answers. Hopefully you were able to receive our answer this time, and we apologize!)
