Very informative museum of Orlando history. Well displayed. Friendly staff. Remember to take some warmer clothing (not just T-Shirt) as the building is kept quite cool to preserve the exhibits.

Well designed with a welcoming and knowledgeable staff. You are going to see similar exhibits that you find in Florida museums, Seminole displays, Cracker houses, orange grove histories, but they are always just different enough in each building. OCRHC is no different as they organize and approach the exhibits with their own flair. I loved the tourism section and would lobe to see it grow with more former attractions getting attention. An infinite collection of old brochures, souvenirs, and photos of tourist traps from yesteryear would be like catnip to me. Seeing what is essentially the foundation of that makes me hope it grows even more.

For Central Florida history, you can’t beat this quality institution. We visited for the Ocoee Race Massacre exhibit. It was so well done and presented an event in our painful but true history. It was well presented and allowed engagement by museum goers. It is a necessary reminder of our need to learn from history and truthfully acknowledge it’s impact and opportunities for growth. Other Central Florida exhibits about tourism, space exploration and general history are worth seeing and also well done.

Sorry for the delayed response. We at the History Center appreciate your inquiry and your concern for our collection. The History Center does not auction items from that collection, in keeping with both our policies and the best standards and practices in the museum field. In August 2019, we had a fundraising auction, but the items for sale were exhibition props (like pieces of stage scenery). They were not historical artifacts and were not part of the museum’s collecting mission. For more about that auction, visit https://www.thehistorycenter.org/floridiana/. The History Center adheres to the highest standards and ethics in museum collecting and is always transparent about accessions and deaccessions of the collection through our Board of Directors Collections Committee. If you have any further questions feel free to call us at 407-836-8500.
Maybe they're not as historic as the donor thought. And they can always use funding.
Both, stairs are not bad if you choose to take them and the elevators are nice if you have a stroller.
Hi Gloria, It depends on what you mean when you say share but we would love to discuss your family history with you and see what you have in mind! Please contact us through our webform at https://www.thehistorycenter.org/contact/ and we will follow-up with you via email.
These are not artifacts that they're auctioning. The items they are auctioning are sculptures and installations that need to be rehomed because of the renovations.
Normally $15 for adults. There are discounts for students, children and some other categories. I was lucky to catch it free during the week of the Pulse Shooting anniversary. If they still have the Pulse art display, do not miss seeing it. Even if you are not a huge art fan, it will make you think
Yes, normal size vehicles in parking garage. Street parking along side streets at 1.25 per hour varying depending on day of week and time of day.
