Cute little cabins and treehouses in a quiet campground. Took children hiking and spent time at the park right down the street which was also beautiful!

This is a great place for a short, casual, relaxing walk in nature. The trails are short but I didn't mind because the grounds have character. You can camp there and rent cabins too. How awesome! There a pool for guest there too. It was built in 1932 and more land was added in the 1950's. It certainly has a late 50's feel to it. It's pet friendly too.

The reasons why this is not a 5, is based upon rudeness we faced in regards to the use of the pool. I guess we were supposed to be given wrist bands when we checked in for our treehouse but we weren’t so they wanted to charge us. Then once we got that issue overcome, the entire time we swam we had to listen to the lifeguards complain about being there. That, and our treehouse hadn’t been cleaned very thoroughly as there was dirty underwear under a bunk. Otherwise, our experience has been awesome. Check in was friendly. A bit of traffic sounds that’s a tad annoying but mostly it wasn’t too bothersome. The joy of hearing the owls, insects, and frogs made up greatly for it. Nice bathhouse and very nice kitchen area! It’s a wicked fun place and my three year old is loving it!

Yes you can they have a brand new dock
I do not think permission prior is required. I have taken tons of pictures, different styles and people all over the grounds over the years and have never had anything said to me at all. Such a beautiful place perfect for photos!! 😊
Yes I had my wedding there it was great and clean they help you in anyway possible I would highly recommend it
Yes there is two different tent site's. One is close to the tree houses and the other is closer to the office. They both have bath house's and a closed in kitchen/eating building.
The treehouses are 25, the cabins are 50 a night, in the tent sites are 20 a night tent sites really nice
1pm-4pm
No definitely not
During daylight hours you can go in & explore. No fee.
You have to rent them months in advance
May not be their decision. Lots of parks are still in disrepair due to lack of funding
Dogs on leash are welcome. The doggie bags stations are not always filled. Only service dogs can stay overnight. Pets are not allowed inside buildings.
Yes, you can launch from the camp. The city/county are in the process of making improvements.
No not to my knowledge.
Yep right off the Pier on black Creek I Believe.
Yes you can even rent one there
All the campsites are walk in so I don't think you could stay in your rv but I'm not sure if you could park it, probably.
Online or go to office
They do have cabins available for two people. I'm not sure on price but here's a link to get more info. https://www.claycountygov.com/departments/parks-and-recreation/camp-chowenwaw-park
No room for a camper. This was a girl scout camp that was bought by the county. It has set buildings and tree houses and 4 or 6 tent pads
The tree houses are at the back of the property. There are bathrooms but you have to walk to them. They treehouses have 4 bunk beds on each side and are screened in all the way around.
You'll have to call. I've not heard of anyone camping with pets. Sorry
No you can not. They are open sun up to sun down. Then closed.
There is no lake. There is a pool. Can kayak on Black Creek. No pets
The pool is open from like 10- 5 until labor day and it used to be 1.00 ea
According to their website they are open from 10-7 today.
They are RSVP booked months in advance last year..
No idea. Call the park office.
Biking is allowed, but no set trails means your on the gravel roads with the autos.
Yes.
The county according to the website. https://www.claycountygov.com/departments/parks-and-recreation/camp-chowenwaw-park
Yes, but the park office will have to assign you an appropriate site.
The county council has to approve funding in their annual budget.
Search for kayak rentals near Black Creek... I'm sure you can kayak, not sure why you wouldn't be able to...
They look nice but I have only stayed in the tree houses and they are great!!
4 for adults. 3 for kids above age 2.
Yes some of them have electricity and some of them are without electricity it just depends on what you want the ones with electricity are about 10$ more
No heat/air in tree house. Water & electricity in dining hall.
I have no idea unfortunately, but you can ask someone that's in charge of Camp Chowenwa.
Yes, construction is at the front, no problem getting in.
No its a former girl scout camp, no hoik ups. Clay county has visions for it but it will be at least 1 year out before it changes.
