First time I've been here and I must say the greens are in immaculate shape. Even the other people I was playing with who had been here multiple times commented that they have never seen it this good so they must be doing something right!

This course is under rated and is a fun layout. Postage stamp greens but some really neat holes with raised tees and some interesting undulation. Yes some of the tees are beat up and some fairways but a good value considering the low greens fees. I would definitely play here again this summer. Tee time reservation tip- do not ever book your reservation online. Golf now will charge you $10 for a foursome reservation but if you have to cancel, they will not refund the fee. I have never heard of that policy. At all the Monmouth County golf courses if you make a reservation but have to cancel before that date there is no charge. Call the pro shop to make a reservation to avoid this online reservation charge.

Not going to find perfect fairways or greens but this place deserves 5 stars for what it is. Only place around with reasonable rates. Has a driving range. People are cool, don’t need to dress up like your going to your grandmas for Easter Sunday. There’s usually a band playing outside by the putting green (where else does that?!) or inside at the course bar, McCann’s (a fine establishment) its not the most challenging course but it’s a fun layout with some fun par 3 holes like the uphill 7th and the 16th that goes over a small pond. Also love holes 14 and 15 (both par 4) where you tee off up on a hill. Another thing to note is that this course, being inside a state park, is more secluded than any private club I’ve played. You won’t see a road, or a house the whole time your out there. Nothing but trees, creeks and wildlife. I’ve seen deer, bald eagles, and almost got attacked by a red tail hawk one time….. As long as your not a middle aged man who thinks he’s special because he shoots in the low 80s and expects Augusta-like conditions on every fairway he steps foot on, you’ll have a good time.

Outside of the course being very wet, due to the extremely heavy rainfall amounts we have recently had, the course was in relatively good shape! The clubhouse/pro shop was closed for some reason, and the payment area was out on the porch …
