The facilities themselves seemed fine, the outdoor pool was perfectly nice. However, they do NOT accept nationwide memberships and do not clearly post this on their website as the national Y contact email response people advised they should. They allow you to use the Y for 5 days per calendar year. They advertise that their membership allows access to other YMCAs nationwide but they do not return the favor to others. Kind of reminds me of kids in kindergarten who like to take the toys but never share.

I’m a triathlete so I only stay at this Y because they have a lap pool, otherwise would have called it quits a long time ago. A lot of attention paid to ONLY wiping down cardio machines, but little attention is paid to doing much else. Pictures below show that they rarely ever vacuum or clean the locker rooms (the one picture shows a massive blood stain on the curtain). When they do finally vacuum they bring out a duct taped dirt devil that is the 30 dollar model at target usually reserved for college students and their college dorm rooms. They will spend money painting the lockeroom and putting up new expensive signage, but heaven forbid they clean the place. Not a staffing issue either, as at any given time they have 5 staff that sit behind their desks. Did complain to the management a couple of months back and was told they had turn over in their cleaning crew the prior week…however this has been an issue since I joined in July. Also not pictured is the weight floor…that is soo full of hair it looks like a pack of golden retrievers has been shedding on it for the better part of a year. I’ve also had hand weights come apart while I’m using them and when you arrive at 6am, it’s not uncommon for every locker to be fully occupied because people store their stuff overnight and the staff fail to check/reset the locks.

Not friendly staff and poor communication, they don’t make you feel welcome. Members are not treated with respect or kindness. I would suggest for the management to apply themselves to trained employees how to be friendly. You never know who walked through the door so keep that in mind.

This is a great gym, I have worked out here for years and never had an issue. I like to lift big and never had a problem with anyone. Staff is great and don't forget to say hi to Bruce at check in.

Yes, first visit is free. $10 there after.
I am pretty sure the minimum term is a month, but it is reasonable and worth it with no obligation to renew.

Yes. As long as there isn't another program going on in the gymnasium, you are free to shoot hoops anytime when the Y is open.
There is no indoor pool at the Venice YMCA. There is a large outdoor pool though with diving boards and separate areas for lap swimming.
There are two indoor raquetteball courts that are generally open for use. There are no programs that I know of specifically for raquetteball.
