We cannot speak highly enough of this place, its staff, and its passion for patients. From before we even got to the facility, during our travel to Tampa for my husbands procedure and upon arriving to The Clayman Thyroid Center we felt completely comfortable and taken care of. Whatever your journey is involving your thyroid do NOT hesitate to contact this place! You will not regret it. They kept an open line of communication about everything from the cost, insurance process, what to expect, and what they needed us to do. We had no question about what was going on. If they could take care of it, they did leaving very little to us to take care. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by staff, walked through everything and even offered lunch so we could eat after traveling from Panama City Beach all day. They gave recommendations that they coordinate with for hotels so that a shuttle service option was available for transportation without cost from hotel to hospital. The procedure the following day was so well organized, the staff kept me informed the entire time, and I didn’t feel stressed worrying about how my loved one was being cared for. After the procedure they again offered to make sure I was fed, not even being the patient while I waited to see him. They got him settled into a room, made sure he had anything he could need to be comfortable and were so caring about both of us. Discharge day was smooth sailing, a packet with all instructions and supplies to help on the travel back home were provided along with numbers for contacting them at any hour. We truly felt like family, and our gratitude cannot be expressed enough!

I found the Clayman Clinic after receiving a cancer diagnosis from a local surgeon who advised I needed to "go to Birmingham" - the largest city in my state. After searching the interned, I found the Clayman Clinic and intuitively felt this was the place for me. What a great decision that was - from start to finish - just returned home from a complete removal of my thyroid - the care, concern and expertise of the doctors and staff there was and is remarkable. Dr. Roy was my surgeon but she also called pre-visit to discuss my situation and offer options. I would recommend this place to anyone who is experiencing serious thyroid issues - they are the best!

Dr Roy I want to thank you for giving me the gift of my life back. Knowing that the mass is gone and you were able to get it out is such a blessing. You are truly a wonderful surgeon and person. The Clayman Thyroid center is the answer for anyone to get the best care . I have never experienced going to such a wonderful hospital. You bring a sense of peace and love to your patients. Thank you all . You are a blessing to all those fortunate to have had you as their doctor and that includes me. I came all the way from upstate New York 3,000 miles round trip to Tampa Florida. There is no other place to consider if you want the most talented surgeons to care for you. I am truly blessed to have found this wonderful hospital with such talented caring doctors. Thank you Claire

I wish I could give them 10 stars. I cannot speak highly enough of the team at the Clayman Thyroid Center. We had our phone consult with Dr. Walsh and he was so thorough and patient and informative. We met Dr. Roy at our in person consult and she immediately made us feel like we were in the right place. My 17 year old daughter was scared and facing a lot of unknowns. Dr. Roy was patient, kind, informative, and spent as much time with her as she needed to feel comfortable. This morning my daughter had the right lobe of her thyroid removed due to a very large cyst. We met Dr. Clayman before surgery and again were so impressed. All three doctors make you feel like a part of their family as soon as you meet them. Dr. Clayman and Dr. Roy were fantastic today walking us through each step of the surgery and then speaking with us after as well. The entire team from the people who check you in, to the nurses, anesthesiologists, and doctors are simply the best. I feel so blessed to have found them, and to live so close the their practice. I would recommend them to anyone having thyroid issues. We went through other doctors first, and through much research found this center. Getting a second opinion there changed everything for the better. So so grateful!

I didn't have a referral. You can check on their website which insurance they take.
Yes, both the Norman Parathyroid Center and Clayman Thyroid Center work seemlessly together. Any patient requiring both teams of surgeons is cared for by experts that only do parathyroid surgery and thyroid surgery, respectively.
You can only tell once it has been removed and examined under a microscope. Its cell pattern (fna) and genetic analysis can be the same as a papillary thyroid cancer.
