Came here last Sunday saw a puppy and filled up a adoption application w/ Tim in person they told me they will reached back in 24-48 hours called back on a Wednesday no answer made atleast 9 calls and the 10th was when they finally answer so they said they didn't find the application and to fill up another one on online which I didn't do and proceed to talk to Tim which he said the same thing and I told him you where there when I filled it up. How can you loose it if they are not doing anything but talking to the other employee. So after two days he calls me back questions me/interview and etc. End up calling my landlord and he didn't answer because he's a busy man. So my landlord is calling today because supposedly they where gonna call today in the morning and my landlord was waiting and he end up calling 10-15 times and just to voice-mail. So I went today in person to ask about updates and door was locked on business hours. I totally understand that supposedly they short staff, but there's no customers and there's employees. The guy Tim told me that I have to tell my landlord and leave a message because he is really busy and has not gotten to calls that he will try another time but definitely not today. IM REALLY DISSAPOINTED THAT I WANTED TO ADOPT WILLIS but I guess I have to find another place. Now I understand the reviews.

Super disappointed that I called 3 times within 2 hours, got no response then drove over an hour to come possibly adopt a senior dog, the man that answered the door was super rude and kept telling me how I had to set up an appointment, online, when explaining I tried calling to ask and that I drove very far, he kept brushing it off and told me to leave, would not recommend wasting your time with this place, unfortunately a lot of good animals are losing good potential homes. (Edit: also very disappointed and Save a pet should be ashamed that I’m seeing the same response to similar reviews many years ago, lots of good animals will lose their lives and chances at good homes because of this animal shelters ignorance)

On Saturday, 30 mins before closing, I rushed in with the sickest tiny feral kitten I found crying in the roadway by my house. Nothing I tried was working! She was dying...but they scooped her up and started an i.v. because she was emaciated and put meds on her eyes because they were scabbed shut. They saved her...gave her the best chance for a good life! They will find her a loving foster when she's better! I can't thank the team at Save a Pet in Grayslake enough! 💜

I adopted my dog from save a pet. They are one of the best shelters I've ever been to. They truly take care of their animals. The reason they "interrogate" is because they want to A.) make sure you are aware of the major commitment you are making when adopting and B.) make sure the animal goes to a good home. They know that these animals have been through enough already, so they want to make sure they wont be returned or go into a home where they will be neglected This is one of the cleanest facilities I've ever been to in my opinion. Don't listen to the negative reviews, there's a good reason they didn't walk out with an animal. If it wasn't for you guys,I would have never met my best friend. Thank you!

No take the cat there.😥
I don't work there. Please call them directly
You have to call and schedule a drop off due to covid 19..
Hi Joshua, Save-A-Pet focuses on cats and dogs at our adoption center. However, there are other rescues in the area that take in and place small mammals such as rats, mice, hamsters, etc. A few local rescues you can try are Animal Education and Rescue or Our House of Hope to see if they have any rats available at this time. You can also look into county animal control facilities that have adoption programs as well such as Chicago Animal Care and Control or McHenry County Animal Control. Thank you, Sally Hubbard Save-A-Pet IL
Take it to Save-A-Pet. They will nurse it back to health and a foster will take it in until it's properly weight and then it will get Spade or Neutered, tagged, given all its shots and then it will be adopted out. Maybe sign up to be a foster as they can only take kittens in as there is space. It is a no-kill shelter.
Hi, it is best to bring it to a vet, shelter, or local animal control to have it scanned for a microchip and to make a found pet report. If no microchip and the cat appears to be in good health (not sick or injured), get a picture of the cat and then put it back where you found it. From there, you can create flyers or post on Lost Pet pages on Facebook. Cats have only about a 2% chance of being returned to their owners if they are taken into shelters or animal controls and in some cases may be at risk for euthanasia. Cats have a much greater chance of finding their homes on their own if they have one. It is also possible that it is a community cat (can be friendly or feral). If you see this cat on a regular basis and it is not spayed/neutered, there are organizations (including Save-A-Pet) in the area that offer services to Trap-Neuter-Return so that the community cat populations are managed and healthy. If the cat is injured/sick, call shelter or animal control for intake.
You would have to call the shelter.
Hi, Due to our current operations due to COVID-19, you can drop donations off at our front doors anytime from 11am-4pm any day except Tuesdays and a staff member will bring them in. Thank you so much for thinking of Save-A-Pet! Sally Hubbard Animal Welfare and Operations Manager Save-A-Pet Grayslake, IL
Call them tomorrow morning and tell them your interested in adopting. You can fill the paper work out online in advance if you want. I went there on a Saturday and adopted two cats(great cats btw👍) it took about a couple hours... And yes you can walk-in.
You absolutely want to do a meet and greet. Bring entire family, any dogs or cats you already have, lease (if you are a renter), etc. Be ready to pull the trigger if you find a good match.
Unlimited, from being to a foster home, like I did when I adopted a kitten and they had NO foster homes for the next litter to come in and everyone was crying because if taken somewhere else, it would have been a kill shelter. To cleaning litter boxes to walking dogs to paperwork, WE NEED ALL HELP!
You will need to call them to schedule an appt vet and ask if they can accommodate your request.
Yes, remove label and clean them.
You can call them to see what the procedure is for them to take your pet dogs.
The available dogs are shown on the web site at www.saveapetil.org.
The current price to adopt a dog is listed on their website along with the dogs that are currently available for adoption.
The current hours are as follows: * Monday:11am – 5pm Tuesday:Closed Wednesday:11am – 5pm Thursday:1pm – 8pm Friday:11am – 5pm Saturday:11am – 5pm Sunday:11am – 5pm
I adopted a kitten in June 2018. The price was $150 for the kitten and then an add on for the rabies tag. I think the total was $182

I know they take blankets and i am sure you can drop them off during normal hours
Cat adoption is $100 and kitten adoption is $150.
They have a small room for FeLV cats and a larger room for FIV cats.
They only take pets by appointment. Any pets dropped off without an appointment are turned over to animal control.
Faith, I don't work at Save-A-Pet, but I see no reason why you couldn't.
