Played Spanos Park for the first time as a practice round for a NCGA qualifier. Was pleasantly surprised at the conditions in the middle of a long hot summer. Greens were a perfect speed to match their very undulating design. I would expect the course could get pretty windy due to the minimal number of trees, but I'm sure that's just part of the challenge to score well there. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Reasonable pricing that is more than appropriate for the conditions.

1) Greens are in terrible shape as nobody fixes ball marks 2) Sands are essentially hardened clay 3) They allow and even promote 5-somes, slowing down play, and they don't marshal speed of play 4) They require polo shirts for some people, but not others. At no point does their website or clubhouse say polo shirts are required. 5) This course will eventually fall to sub-mediocrity along with all other courses in the area. Management is absent and unresponsive.

Excellent course. Greens are running true and quick...not too fast. Fairways are manicured and bunkers are consistent . Course will give you a chance to score but will jump up and bite on mistakes. Looking forward to my next round there.

Playing this course in the spring is a delight. Winter and spring rains make the greens and fairways some of the best in California. Reasonable rates, friendly staff, full bar, clean carts, and a fantastic driving range make the trip here worth it. Greens were fast and challenging. Fairways were well maintained and had plenty of places to penalize an errant tee shot or second shot. Will definitely be making a return trip.
