Let me start by saying if you have the means or a way to go to a different hospital GO TO A DIFFERENT HOSPITAL!!! Got to the counter at 3:24pm immediately the receptionist had a attitude. We waited 1hr in the freezing waiting room for triage, another 2hrs in the freezing waiting room for registration, then another 1hr in the freezing waiting room for blood work. That lady also had a attitude, but this time I said something only for her to ask for a assistant because she said I was angry smh. I should have left at that point but we went ahead with the bloodwork. The lady that took my daughter's lab's left a huge bruise on my daughter's arm. The nurse came in and she was super sweet, very nice lady. The doctor came in everything was fine, than another doctor came in and they were almost able to get the job done. Then they wanted more labs. Did I fail to mention my daughter was dehydrated and they ran no iv fliuds or offered water by that time we had been there 6hrs. So I asked to be discharged to go to a different hospital only to be told by the doctor that couldn't do her job the first time, she can't let me do that! Excuss you!!! She left out and 20mins later another doctor came in to ask if my daughter needed a blanket. What about some water smh. So I asked again for discharge papers 15mins later the ultrasound lady walks in with no discharge paper's so I say forget it she's already here and let her do her job. Another hour passes by that time my 15yr old wants to leave to. The doctor comes back in to argue with me about wanting to leave.. Ok coo you met your match lady... She leaves and the nurse comes in to check on us and I tell her we want to go so she talks to a different doctor and got the papers for us. I have never had a experience this horrible and long I will never be back.. Hopefully that nice nurse finds a better place with people that match her beautiful energy cause those people are horrible she works with....

7-12-22...absolutely the worst E.R. experience. Not only were staff (specifically security to E.D. director) unorganized, condescending and unaware of their publicly published covid restricted visitor policy but they were knowingly and intentionally forcing people (including elderly and disabled) to go and stay out in the heat that was between 98 - 100 degrees while waiting hours for their loved ones to be seen! When E.D. director was asked about the hospital policy she stated that she is the Director and therefore makes the policy..the published policy only applies when a patient is put into a room .The ridiculous part is that there was nothing at the entrance and no staff at the door to say anything to anyone. Instead after people had already been inside for varied amounts of time (I had been there over and hour with my friend who was waiting to be seen) before being told to leave. Obviously this is not an isolated incident considering the numerous reviews I just read that had the same complaint. I have personal reached out to Quality control, or whatever the department that Sutter keeps referring everyone to, and left two messages but have yet to receive a call back. I am beginning to think that the suggestion that so many have received is just their standard form of patronizing. Apparently this hospital is not concerned with its poor standards of patient care. I will be escalating this to an outside agency that is responsible for hospital oversight. Patients are customers and customers provide the revenue that pays these people salaries. Maybe if something is done to affect revenue then they will prioritize this issue. I will be making this my number one priority until some sort of visible change is made and people who have to deal with this hospital are treated with dignity and respect.

I would love to hear opinions of why ERs treat patients so horribly. This is one business I wish there could be some competition in so they were forced to provide some humanity to patients. I realize they deal with the worst case scenarios however the patients that come in are dealing with those worse case scenarios as well and often frightened. My 19 yr old son went into this ER with a condition that can be life threatening. Turns out he did have what was suspected. He watched people come in, get treated and leave while he sat. They wouldn’t allow a parent or family member in with him for any portion of his care. For hours he just sat in the lobby scared. Since this condition can lead to renal failure rather quickly, we were all shocked by the hours that went by before they even took a blood sample to look further at the issue. I wouldn’t want my son to go back here or any of my family. I know things are getting pretty bad in healthcare, some are better than others, I know they’re overwhelmed and busy too, but then allow family members to step in where you can’t. Any young adult should have a right to have a parent there to direct their care in an urgent situation. Although I take covid and the ramifications very seriously, it’s not an excuse to not think through the policies and procedures that make zero sense. Please explain to me how me with my mask on sitting in an empty ER lobby with my frightened son for comfort gets in the way of your job or patient’s care in any way.

I was wheeled back to the ER where the nurse put me on IV fluids and gave me pain medication to both address the pain I was in and calm my tachycardic heart rate. I could finally rest. In the middle of the night, I started getting visitors: the ER doc, a hospitalist, a surgeon and finally Intervention Radiology (IR). Do these people sleep??? I couldn't believe how attentive everyone was. A CAT scan showed I had an abscess and blood tests showed sepsis...I needed hospitalization. Once a bed was available they rolled me to my new room. Sutter was amazing during my hospitalization. I had the same hospitalist for 7 days and only on the 8th day did someone new visit me. I frequently had the same nurses and nurse assistants until they had a day off. Keeping the same nurse was really helpful because they could help track changes, such as when the redness from my abscess was growing. The IR team drained my abscess and inserted a drain system to allow the abscess to continue draining (for another 9 days). The IR team was particularly interesting. They gave me a small amount of fentanyl, which means I was able to respond to their instructions but I had no memory of it, which means if I had any pain, I don't remember it. They drew my blood every morning and I tracked all of the results on the Sutter app...it was a great convenience to be able to review the staff notes and track my lab results. There was something reassuring about seeing my improved CBC counts each day. They also grew a blood culture to find out which bug gave me the sepsis. The culture took 4 days to grow but they finally found out the exact culprit and moved me from broad spectrum anti-biotics to one. The fewer the anti-biotics, the better. The broad spectrum anti-biotics are very powerful and not great for veins so my IV had to be moved multiple times. Through that process, I found out that I have tiny veins. Not to worry, they have a specialist who comes in with an ultrasound machine and finds a good vein, which significantly reduces the failed pokes. Eight days later, I was discharged from the hospital. Sutter literally saved my life. Even during the peak of Omicron and overcrowded ERs and hospitals, the medical team were there when I needed them.

I don't recall their open time but I do know they close at 5pm. My car was left up by the doors and security had my key.
Everything went as planned. On time, showed concern, practiced all covid procedures. No worries.
