We rented a Mustang/Camaro convertible in San Francisco to drive along the coast from Fort Bragg to San Diego. We got a Camaro (wich I personelly think looks better) that didn´t disappoint us, we where more disappointed by the overall state of the car. 1. The last time the car´s wer cleaned was 2006 on the inside and 2012 on the outside. The inside had sticky leftovers from the pre drivers and the outside was just dirty and not cleaned. 2. The first car had multiple dents and scratches, so that it wasn´t presentable on pictures or in the public. 3. The first car hat the steering wheel pointing at 10 o´clock 4. On the second car the tires where worn out Overall I have to say, the staff in your stations are all very kind and tried to help us in the best way they could (thats why you get 2 Stars). But the overall state of the vehicles I had was poor. The worst is, it would have only taken 30-60 minutes of extra work clean the car properly and check the technical state of it. I had to drive 200 miles back to San Francisco to change the car, just to get a technically nearly ok car with worn out tires but nearly just as dirty one. So clean the cars and look that they´re in a technical state that someone who´s paying a lot of money for the rent, would actually appreciate it. With those 30-60 minutes more work, you would have gotten 5 stars.

The line was extremely long and there were not enough people to take care of customers. While I took advantage of the digital check in, that had no affect on the 45 minute wait in line. There should be a separate line for digital check in customers. The car I received had only a half tank of fuel which also took more of my time.

I had a series of unfortunate luck resulting in three flat tyres on two seperate vehicles. On the first occasion I was stranded for several hour by the roadside and had to change the gyre myself with the help of San Mateo Sheriffs - so I was NOT happy at all about using Budget, after this experience. I do want to recognise how fantastic the Avis / Budget Operations Manager - Autumn Poti was at SFO in helping me change the car. I would absolutely book using Budget / Avis again and this is largely down to dealing with her. Both cars were excellent - but it has been the fantastic work of their customer team that would convince me to use them again.

Last year, I had such a horrible experience with Budget Car Rental while traveling to Kauai, Hawaii, I swore I'd never use them again. Forgive and forget, right? Recently, I decided to give them a second chance, and what you see is the end result. There are probably 50 to 75 people waiting to be checked in, and two people are behind the counter. Unbelievable! People have been waiting in line for over an hour, and I believe that's how long it will take me. If you ever think about renting from this company, think again. It's a mistake that you will regret.

Follow the signs and know you will have to take the train to and from the rental cars. It's a little longer to commute on foot in relation to most major airports here in the lower 48. I always add 20 minutes to my normal time between arriving at the airport and getting to my gate when flying out of SFO. I personally spend as little time as needed in any airport. Cheers!
I'm sure they may have sold them for a premium
Yes. Airport locations are open 24/7
Any questions, please reach out to the employees at the counter.
I found hand push carts available to rent at the rental car drop-off location. It was easy then to take 3 heavy bags to Air Train.
There is the air train. But I would avoid using this service.
Take the Air-train, the airport people mover system that will stop at all terminals, including a terminal specific for all car rental companies.
It depends on which budget you go to and then if it's at the airport you may have to pay or just have someone drop you off
I'm not certain but you will be charged from the moment you collect the keys, so if you leave the car at the lot it shouldn't really be a problem. It may be worth giving them a call to ask
Look for the Air Train signs in the airport, even though the signs are confusing as to turn or go straight. It will get you to the general direction. Take the BLUE LINE AIR BUS which will take you to the rental area by rail. Bottom Line: get on the air train in the airport which will take you to the rental car. When you see the Budget car desk walk pass it to the elevator. Go up one flight and get off. Turn right and you will see an stand that has a contract with your name on it. Grab your contract. Walk past the Fastrac desk and go through the door to the parking garage. Your vehicle space is marked on your contract. The key or fob is on the dash or seat. Car is all gased up and you just drive out.
Pick up is inside the airport area. Their blue line air train takes you to it.
They will ask you to pay one more day
Yes, by train.
I used it and it actually saved me money, yet I was staying in Mill Valley
Yes it is very easy. Basically just follow the signs for car rentals and specifically Budget. They are located in the car rental building with an attached garage for all vehicles. I very much enjoyed working with Budget on San Francisco.
You can go by train or shuttle bus. Ask at frontline Airport. It will take 10 minutes, this is free. Then get up 3rd floor. Good luck :-)
I believer some $5 per day and $20 max for the entire duration of rental.
There are signs there stating you can.
Yes, it is open, you can even book in advance
Yes, they always slap an extra fee on your account for this. Most rental companies do...
Debit card with high enough ballance on account should be possible.Better to contact car rental chain.
Yes, a train
Yes. Usually they give "grace period" of 30 min. After that they can charge you more. I would suggest calling to the office and negotiating.
I've never seen a jeep convertible at budget. I've seen grand Cherokee but that's about it.
