Ordered their Olive oil online after visiting their store. Delicious oil, easy shipping....and exceptional customer service. That combination makes Stonehouse my go to for fine olive oil.

I've been ordering from Stonehouse for years and love their olive oils! I've gotten extra virgin olive oil, flavored oils, dipping oil, and balsamic vinegar. I find them all of excellent quality. Delivery from CA to the east coast is pretty fast as well.

This review is in regards to the service. The product itself is great but the customer service stinks! Last week I order a gift box for Mother's Day and was told it would take 5 days to deliver. I told the clerk it will be two days late but it ok because my mom was going to be gone that day. Expecting that it would arrive Tuesday I called my mom and asked if she had received a package because I hadn't received a shipping confirmation, IN 5 DAYS. Of course, no package so I call Stonehouse to ask what is going on. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. I never heard back that day...finally received an email the next day saying one component of the package was out of stock. HUH???? Why didn't someone call me last week? It's ridiculous that it takes 5-6 to contact me! They told me they could put a cheaper version of the missing component in the box and refund me for the more expensive part. Really? This is a Mother's Day gift! Finally after I requested to speak with a Manager, I received a phone call from someone who acted like they didn't want to deal with me. Basically, said "What do you want me to do?" You should think about what you could do! Like offer me a better package at no extra cost for the inconvenience and/or offer a discount on my next order or something. Unbelievable. I was then told they would look for an extra part and expedite the shipping today. I asked for a tracking number to be sent to me. Guess what? Still nothing! Nothing has shipped and my mom has not received her Mother's Day gift. Horrible customer service. I will never buy from Stonehouse again.

I dont know about you but I frankly cant tell between "virgin" olive oil and "extra virgin" olive oil. Considering that fact, my wife and I have become really fond of the olive oil from this place and we use it for cooking and for salads/breads, etc. They offer a variety of olive oils and all of them are good. You can also try out the olive oils as they mostly have samples at the store which really help you pick the flavor of olive oil you would want to buy. They also offer balsamic vineger which is pretty decent. You do pay a bit of a premium for the olive oils but if you like the taste, its worth it. Tip: They used to offer a groupon/google offer earlier so check those, you might land up a deal that will make it worth your time there.

Good question! It's a nod to the original stone mills used to press olive oil - the "houses" would be make entirely of stone from the local areas (olives were stone-ground and then pressed in large canvas bags to release their oil with big stone weights).
Thanks for asking - We take it all very seriously, for the sake of all! The Ferry Building keeps all doors propped open, masks required indoors while shopping, and extra cleaning measures of public spaces/surfaces are in place. At Stonehouse, we have plexiglass dividers, wear masks at all times, are all in process of getting vaccinated (all staff now have at least the first dose!), maintain basic personal cleanliness, sanitize commonly touched surfaces and offer hand sanitizer to all. Customers currently shop and place their order from the storefront, rather than coming into our shop - our staff will get whatever you'd like and bring it out to you. No refills or tastings at this time. Let us know if you have other questions!
We sell Black Truffle Sea Salt (which is spectacular and super easy/versatile to use), but no longer truffle oil.
It's made by pressing fresh organic basil leaves together with the olives, a process called agrumato, which preserves the fresh basil flavor. Simple, aromatic and summery. Our Basil extra virgin olive oil has won awards in the past and is a staff and customer favorite.
All of our olives are grown in California, mostly within 100 miles of San Francisco - we work closely with a handful of farmers in Capay Valley, Winters and Napa county especially. Our oil is pressed in both Woodland and Corning, CA, within 24 hours of harvest.
