Hook Fish is a cozy/friendly outdoor restaurant near the ocean. There are better fish and chips in San Francisco. Hook Fish's version $19 for three pieces was fresh, good sized with crispy batter. I prefer one big piece like they do it in London. The fries were seasoned and not the bigger cuts of potatoes that traditionally come with fish and chips. It is served with a little cup of tarter sauce. It would have been bomb if they had malt vinegar available. Mushy peas would have been nice too but they don't have that. Be prepare to stand in line as Hook Fish is popular. At 8pm on a foggy Monday, all the parklet tables were full with a gang of people waiting for other patrons to finish their meals. Big parties will have to wait a while. The ordering system is at a counter and you get a buzzer when your food is ready. My food was ready in about 15 minutes after ordering. Kind of like Super Duper but with fish.

This is a popular spot for a reason. The fried fish is excellent, with a very light and crispy crust. Not greasy, and full of flavor. I also really liked their tartar sauce. The fish tacos were great, although the tortillas were bland and fell apart easily. However, the fish, veg, and sauce were really good. The chips and guacamole are a good choice if you need a side dish. The only disappointment was the fries. They were a bit over seasoned for our taste, and thin and soft. Service was really fast for how busy this place was. Seating is limited, and parking can be an adventure in this area. Worth the trip. I hope to come back here again.

Listen, when I say this place is fire? Trust me because I really don't care for seafood. The first time I had fish tacos was about 8 years ago in San Diego. Those tacos were AMAZING! And then I never craved fish tacos again until I was going through old photos. So I took to Yelp and this gem comes up. Their entire menu looked great so a couple of my friends and I ordered: Fish Tacos, Crab Cakes, and Fish & Chips. They also ordered the ceviche style dish but I didn't try it so I can't comment on it other than it looked good too. The Fish Tacos are a 10/10. At first I thought, "Huh...this is a bit pricey for 2 tacos. I don't think I'll be full so let me order another dish as well." <--- You see this? Don't be like me. Those fish tacos have like 1 serving of fish each with a heaping mound of salsa on top. It's substantial. Also, that fish was a solid chunk and SO. FRESH. And the salsa on top was crisp and SO. FRESH. Heads up - fresh will be a reoccurring theme. The Crab Cakes were an 8/10. They're quite good but not your traditional kind of crab cake. They're not really crumb coated and fried. It's more like a bunch of crab meat shaped like a crab cake. But the chunks of meat were tender, juicy, and SO. FRESH. Along with the side of salad and creamy sauce on the side, everything paired well together. I recommend this if you want something light with some protein. Kind of like a crab salad. Now for the star of the show - THE Fish & Chips. 10/10 DEFINITELY recommend!! These beer battered babies are DIVINE!! The batter wasn't overly thick or oily. It's crispy on the outside but tender in the inside. When you bite it, there's a nice crunch but it's not too much. The cream sauce pairs very well with it too. And again, the size of fish in each one is a substantial chunk and it's SO. FRESH. Seriously, this place should be called Fresh Hook - fresh catch of seafood and customers. It was very busy when I went there. Despite being busy, everyone working there was super nice and attentive. One customer had a complicated order and spoke directly to the chefs to sort out her order. It was a pretty lengthy conversation but the guy never got mad and remained patient the entire time even though it was clearly making them behind with other orders. Several customers came up asking for extra items like lemon wedges or to go boxes and they were attended to almost immediately. Impeccable customer service! I will say the only downside to this place is the size. It's kind of a hole in the wall spot and only has 2 tables outside and a few benches with no tables. This can make it a bit difficult to eat and share with friends. My friends and I had our food on the railing of a bench area and opted to stand while eating. So if you want seated dining with lots of space, this isn't the place. But if you want FRESH seafood, great food, and even better service, come here!

Quick, easy, tasty, fresh seafood meals. This area doesn't have many fresh modern choices to eat at. Hook Fish Co is an exception. It's a bit pricey, but if you want quality seafood, it's just what you have to love with. Nice patio area for seating as well. After lunch, it's a short walk to the beach where you can take in the beautiful scenery! Awesome experience. Will definitely be back to visit this place again!

For dinner, with beer, spent @ $30 pp, but got tons of really tasty food.
All I've seen is fresh raw oysters but knowing them ask and they may deliver. It's why they're the best
It is usually very busy here. But you are only a few blocks to the beach or a quiet spot in the park.
Good, safe
well for anybody that still checking this out since a year ago they have built outdoor seating in the way one of them curb sets and it is open and very busy you wait in line to get your food and go eat wherever you want peace ✌🏼
Ditto, no reservations, but they are more of a "take out" place anyway, so you can order and eat you meal anywhere.
