Test rode a couple of electric bikes a few years back. I enjoyed the experience and was looking forward to one day committing to an electric bike as a commuter for work. The time has finally come that I'm ready to get serious about purchasing, but alas Zero has make some bad moves and started charging extra for full use of the battery you own on your bike as a "performance enhancement", and the same for 100% faster charging rates, all through software with their app. This is sleazy used car dealer tactics that I wouldn't expect from one of the leading electric motorcycle manufacturers. I could understand unlocking extra speed or security features like Tesla, but holding 20% of the battery hostage and limiting the charge speed 100% under what it can do with the hardware that has been purchased is unacceptable. This is not the way to encourage riders to move to EV.

Was very surprised by the new Zero and I have ridden multiple electric bikes prior - it was simply a blast to ride!!

Have loved my Zero SR. No more maintenance and it literally costs me a penny per mile to ride (with electric rates here in Georgia). I can plug in at any standard electrical outlet, and am good to go for the next day.

1) Rear brake caliper support broke immediately. Submitted several service requests that were ignored while under warranty. When I finally got a hold of someone, they said it was now out of warranty and I should have had it fixed before. 2) No product support at all. Completely adversarial relationship with customers. 3) On board charger failed. Simple AC>DC converter, not severable, $750 replacement. Half the bike is really well engineered and awesome- the parts that break all the time would even be tolerable if Zero didn't hate it's customers. Zero is a garbage company just trying to look good enough to be bought out by big money. If that happens, we definitely can't be worse off than now. Find the unofficial wiki for info on how to work around the company on all the bike issues.

Occasionally there are demo events out of the corporate headquarters in Scotts Valley, but every Zero Dealer in the world has demo units on their floor. Best bet is to just use the dealer locator on the Zero website and ride one locally.
Call zeros customer service they are awesome!
