This park is for total nature lovers. Not much else to see besides beautiful green and seascape. Hang out with by the seaside on the umbrella-table-bench, bring your snack box and just relax and enjoy the serenity. Free parking available and portable restrooms on site... All free.

Beautiful walks. Borrow a bike for free right at the park and bring a picnic. You can’t even see the city. Lots of cool birds if you like bird watching.

Our 1st visit was delightful and a perfect way to finish out the summer. Spacious, well marked trails with beautiful wildflowers and water views. Everyone was friendly. Lots of unoccupied picnic tables for people to use. The bike library was free and made it easy to explore. I think it is a fitting tribute to Shirley Chisholm!

Try heading west to the tranquil and serene environment of Shirley Chisholm State Park in Brooklyn. This location is an absolute hidden jewel. You will be pleasantly surprised to find some great scenic views along the winding trails. Pack …

The landfill has been capped, there are various layers of protective material between the garbage and the soil/grass put on top. There should also be a system in place that collects the lecheate and another one to treat the gas emissions. This project must be up to NYSDEC regulations, I would say it's a safe place to visit.
Yes parking is free but limited, may have to drive around a few times to see if anyone is leaving their spot or park on Pennsylvania Avenue and walk across the bridge over the Belt Pkwy.
There is no skate park at Shirly Chisholm State Park. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails. Lots of wild life and views of Jamaica Bay. There are picnic tables throughout the park, but no barbecuing allowed. No pets either. There are porta-potties throughout the park. In the s Summer Moths there is a Bicycle Library where one can borrow a bike. This is one of my favorite parks in NYC.
I was there a few days ago. Saw about two bike stations. The bikes are free but they go fast and I believe renting stops around 4pm. Better to bring your own.
It used to open at 7am. Not anymore
No pets are permited and the parking is free.
Yes
Opened today, July 2nd, 2019.
You cannot bbq there at S.C.P but you can at Canarsie pier or Seaview park.
I did not see any snakes - there are usually people at the front booth and people that work inside the park. Just in case something like that is seen it's good to let one of them know.
There's more than enough space to play but of course always with adult supervision, especially because there are a lot of open spaces into the water thru the grass areas, but it's a super beautiful park for family picnics as well and just to relax with a good 📖📚.
No 😔
No dogs or pets allowed.
There are two car entrances. If you take Pennsylvania Avenue to the end you will run right into it. The other car entrance is off of Fountain Avenue.
The Parking lot is right by the entrance of the park. East bound of the Belt parkway (Pennsylvania exit 15)
around 3.5 miles
The paved path (looping around the perimeter of the hill) on the Fountain avenue side of the park is about 2.60 miles. The trails on the hills are of various distances but I believe there are up to 10 miles of hiking trails
Many people are giving different answers to this question, but there are many people who fish at the park's pier. There are no signs up stating "no fishing in this park " that I have seen.
Which bridge and is that parking on the property or off?
There are 2 parking lots with free parking.
I'd say not yet but last time I visited I remember seeing a place that'd be available for that.
No grilling at all. No dogs
No, kite flying is not allowed. There is a sign at the entrance of the park stating no kite flying. I did see someone flying a kite and then being told by park staff to stop because it is not allowed
No swimming in the waters, its posted all over.
At this time there was no Bike rentals, but it seems as if it will begin once they open such like programs again

They dont allow BBQ, no swimming, no pets, no kites, no , driving cars through the park no loittering, and if im correct no smoking. Its mainly just for hiking, bike riding, fishing, and you can bring a lunch and eat at one of there many picnic tables with umbrellas. They slso have 1hr bike rental for free as long as you follow the rules and you have to wear your helmet and do not ride out of the park with one of there bikes. Before you rent the bike you have to give them information on a tablet that they provide and also leave your drivers license. Thats there security for you returning there bikes. I have been to this park to past liesure time its really nice.
