My mother passed away and left bags of coins that she had been collecting for decades. I knew some were silver and some were just old - I had no idea what to do with them. I started researching prices but with bags of old pennies, it was just overwhelming. I brought a shopping bag of mixed coins and proof sets and within a few hours, Cain called me back with an appraisal. Could not have been easier! I was surprised at the value of some things and I felt really comfortable. He later took the time to look through piles of old jewelry, carefully sorting by karat and showing me how he tested for different metals. He also evaluated the stones. The process was so easy and he was SO patient with my questions and with the disorganized mess I handed over! I also ended up buying a pair of amethyst earrings, they have some gorgeous jewelry for sale.

Extremely friendly and welcoming. I have a pretty sizable coin collection I inherited from my late grandfather and came in to find out how much it was worth. They went through every piece, expained what it was and the significance or lack there of. They were incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, and gave me a market value price for all the coins in the collection. I chose not to sell, and felt no pressure to do so, as they were insistent that the appraisal was free of charge and that they would honor the appraisal at market value if i ever decided to change my mind. I am very grateful for the service they provided and left with a much better understanding of what I have and what to look out for from now on! Thank you very much Oakland Coin and Jewelry Exchange!

My experience with this company has been polar opposite of the previous review! I was treated very well on the phone. I was given excellent service and advice by Cain, the owner, and treated very courteously by the other people behind the counter. They answered all of my questions, no matter how simple, and took the time to educate me on various types of collectibles. I definitely would recommend them to friends and family!
