This IS NOT the place to call about drivers licenses, license plates/ tags, CDL questions, permits or anything else not pertaining to highway maintenance. This specific location is a sub-area maintenance shop. The staff here fix and maintain the highway, nothing else.

This is a highway maintenance department, you need Department of Revenue.

I was just wondering why is it that if you drive comm.or 18 wheels you need a cdl but people who buy camp trailors that are 27-30feet or longer don't need one. I have seen a lot of accidents involving these types of trailors.

Simple answer, state laws. Basically having your CDL means you can drive for money. those who use RVs and travel trailers aren't for profit so they dont need to have a CDL. While i agree there should be a special license for those who wish to operate a large vehicle, there is not.
