I was sent to this place when i was 14 (im 16 now) gillis was a foundation for me I was at gillis for 9 months I had no where to go I just felt done with life and the staff at this residental taught me self worth and what was a family. I was happy with my stay. thank you t all of the staff. 2018-2019

My son is a resident here and if i could I would give this place 0 stars. Obviously my son is troubled. He runs away from the campus frequently sometimes returning after a short time and sometimes its hours. The staff notifies me about 50% of the time. I am always told i will be notified when he returns (or if he doesnt) and that has only happened once after my husband threw a fit. No one answers the phone at any number after 5pm. And administration just forwards your call to someone who doesnt answer, doesnt have voicemail set up, or the voicemail is full. At least one staff member has been verbally abusive and the case manager failed to take my son to a court date-twice. When my son ran away yesterday no one called to let me know he did not return. I could not get ahold of ANYONE at the entire facility. Finally the program manager calls me and informs me with quite an attitude that he has not returned and she will keep me updated as to whether he does or not. (I wont hold my breath.) I truly believe that the state needs to look into this facility. It may be doing more harm than good.

My daughter and I have been doing Family Counseling thru Gillis Center. Our counselor, Jennifer is absolutely the best! She has taught us tools that have helped with communication between my daughter and I. My favorite is the Hi Low game. We do this several times a week. We have done family therapy in the past, but it was never beneficial because they didn’t work with us to teach us how to communicate with each other. Jennifer is there to listen and provide guidance on whatever issue our family is facing that week in addition she is always giving us ideas/suggestions on how to better ourselves. The therapy we have received from Jennifer is very beneficial and in just a few short weeks, I have been able to tell the difference in my relationship with my daughter. I’m so very glad that Jennifer was brought into lives!
