Dr. Higgins and his staff saved my dog when no one else would or could. We have an Anatolian who is reactive protective breed and is not the easiest to examine to even get treatment. From the moment we got there the experience was completely different from anything we experienced. They put as at ease that they were experienced and were not afraid to handle and care for him. They took the time to see that he was a sweet dog underneath his tough reaction which no other vet has completely before. I felt complete confidence in leaving him overnight in there care when I had never done that before. They found the issue that our other vet did not see and saved his life. Do not hesitate to take your dog here. We been to quite a few in the county and they are the best. Thank you so much!

Our puppy Juniper randomly got a laceration in her coat. It was impossible to get into any of our local vets, understaffed with no open appointments for weeks! The emergency pet hospitals were only seeing critical cases ("actively dying") pets and left us waiting for 5 hours with no communication. After much frustration and calling at least a dozen vets we found your office. Every step of the way went well from the first call on the phone, to being greeted soon after arrival by a human. We were communicated with every step of the way and knew what to expect. We even received a refund from the initial quoted price. We are so grateful you were able to repair our little Juniper! We will be back.

So pleased with VMSG! We recently had to bring our dog in for a surgery consultation and Dr. Simpson was able to diagnose and quickly schedule him for surgery. She explained the surgery in detail, along with our different options, and took the time to answer my many questions. The other ladies on our care team were very friendly and knowledgeable, so I was completely at ease knowing our dog was getting the best care. We are very grateful to Dr. Simpson and her team; we appreciate you all so much!

This ER hospital was so wonderful with our dog and us. They were professional and caring and thoughtful. The doctor explained everything very clearly, and when I was checking out at the front desk, I had a question about what to do if our dog did not respond in the way we were hoping - the girl at the front desk got the doctor and the doctor came out and discussed that scenario and also wrote everything down for me as it was a lot to remember. She took her time and didn't rush anything. She was amazing. It was the middle of the night when we left, and they were very kind and gave us a free can of special dog food so we could give our dog the medicine with the proper type of food. Just an all around great experience and our dog is happy and well again. Would highly recommend the Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group in Ventura.

All dogs have anal glands. If your dog needs then cleaned then take them to a dog groomer that will do it. If they look infected or in pain then take them to the vet.
