While we usually camp in the park, Indian Cove is spacious and close to town—perfect if you’d like to escape to get lunch in an air conditioned restaurant on a hot summer day!

Unmatched desert beauty camping below towering granite walls makes this a must visit location. Only downside is lack of any water except at the gate, which means you must plan accordingly.

Loved our camp site. I'd recommend booking any of the sites from 29-39 or up to 16. The others are tiny and on the main route. We were at spot 30 and had an amazing cave behind us. We were able to set up our tent a little inside it to protect against the sun. There are lots of drop toilets and trash cans.

Really great campground spot. Lots of interesting rock bouldering and a few hiking trails to select from. Thought this was one of the best sites in the park camping right up against the rock formations and sites had some space between them. Less people around like Skull Rock area. Need to travel to get to better hiking trails, so do so either on way in or out. If using AllTrails, I do recommend, do not travel the Mount Bob Loop - it really is not authorized and it turned out to have bouldering kids or many just can't manage.

It depends on your elevation and position in Joshua Tree. In some spots, I had enough data to get some videos loaded to fall asleep to. In most places, you will have to stand on a high rock to get service.
There isn't a rule about it, that I'm aware of. But some campsites accommodate it better with pull through parking. Other sites have parking next to other sites which may disturb you. Could be a non-issue if you're a deep sleeper or have quiet neighbors.
No, you'll need to bring your own water. There is a pit toilet restroom for every couple campsites but no running water. There is a water fill up at the Oasis Visitor Center but it's not close or filtered.
No hiking fee. Just drive on in
Parking is alloted per camp site reserved. To liquor store as you come off the main state route as you wnter tje park has additional parking $20 a car. And we shuttle people back to the camp sites
You can park at the backcountry parking. There is a trail from boy scout trail trailhead that ends very near Indian cove. Park at the parking there.
Pit toilets in small cinder block buildings.... No running water, so no sink or showers.
