The employees and volunteers take extra special care of all the animals brought to them. There are some ambassador animals that remain comfortably cared for on-site as well. It's a nice facility with good-hearted people. Love it!

Do not take injured songbirds here!! Go to South Florida Wildlife Center in Fort Lauderdale instead. I rescued a fledgling Friday night, thought it was a mockingbird, took it in Saturday but they refused it because it turns out it was a European Starling which is non native. Poor bird died before I could get it to SFLWC. I am saddened and outraged. They should at the very least let the public know that they may refuse non native songbirds. Website only states that they don't take ducks and pigeons.

Alway there when you need them. Always know I can count on them. From picking up injured native wildlife or advice on nursing baby birds, these people are real heroes!

Hi Jeniffer and thank you for your inquiry! There are different Sparrows here in South Florida so it depends on the species but the most common one is the House Sparrow which is a non native species that we are not able to take in. To confirm the species of the little bird you found, you can call our wildlife hotline at 305-751-9840 or text us at 786-459-9155 and our Intake Coordinators will be happy to assist you. Thank you for caring for our local wildlife!
