Yes we do...
We suggest our patients to try the lymphatic massages, in most cases, one or two days after surgery, to get the best results. You can perfectly start now. But always follow the recommendations of your surgeon. The recovery takes around 4 to 6 weeks, you must perform lymphatic drainage massages, for me more... we recommend 8-10 treatments for the body, and you can continue your normal activities, perform light exercises, then increase the routine without any problem.
Anyone can have a lymphatic drainage massage at anytime even without undergoing vaser-lipo as some women do it on a regular basis to reduce the water retention. I don't think that not doing a MLD after your vaser treatment would have done any harm to you, it could have delayed your healing slightly initially, but it is long enough now for any healing process to be complete. As a general rule, our body regenerates any damaged lymphatics with 6-8 weeks after liposuction. Besides that, many patients feel the necessity to get a lymphatic massage to help with their lymphatic system in a regular basis...
Depending on the body part where you are getting a lymphatic massage, your therapist or aesthetician should be able to work with you in different body positions. Or, a pillow under your knees might allow you to lie on your back, depending on your issues
Without Lymphatic Massage (LDT or MLD) the inflammation can evolve into fibrosis (a permanent hardening of the tissue) or a seroma (pocket of serum) can form. If you do not do the massages, you run the risk of not correcting the formation of fibrosis, and the recovery process is much slower and more painful
A lymphatic drainage massage uses pressure applied to key areas to unblock the flow. This technique is completely painless, as constant soft pressure is applied and increased slowly. However, The post op massage is a bit annoying the first days but totally necessary to avoid fibrosis and help you with the recovery process.
It is recommended that you get the series of lymphatic drainage massage session every three months. The expert suggests massaging the arms, legs, and stomach up to 3 to 4 times a week.
Specialists regularly suggest for best outcomes that care must be started in a day after your surgery or within the first few days following surgery (within the first 5 days), and some recommend that patients seek a standard number of treatment sessions.
