Trip is about 15 minutes up. Trails and friendly chipmunks at the top. Great views.

I've been riding the tram to the top of Mt. Howard for 45 years and NEVER tire of the view. Yes, it's currently $40.00 per person for a day pass (same as last year) but, in my opinion, well worth the price, particularly for families that aren't able to make the long overnight hikes into the Eagle Cap Wilderness to get similar views. Once at the top, enjoy the trail system that takes you all around the top of the mountain. Make sure you're able to hike up steep trails in lower than normal oxygen. A lot of people like riding up just to take in a meal at the Summit Grill. I've eaten there and taken in an ale or two a few times since it opened. It's come a long way since then but plan on setting aside some time to get a table and get your meal. Food is fine, but typical fare. Hey, they're the only game in town!

Highly recommended, this place for all ages. They open June through September. Ticket was $38 for adults, $35 for seniors,$28 for kids and under 3 years of age was free. Four people can ride very comfortably on the tram, although you have to purchase tickets for each an individually. On the top there is a restaurant with reasonable price.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Worth every penny. This is a great activity for a lighter activity day in between more involved hikes in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. I highly recommend taking the 2.5 mile hike at the top visiting all the viewpoints.
