Brady Plumbing & HVAC did a fantastic job repairing the issues I needed resolved in my system. I needed a few things handled (some with leaks) around my heating system as well as some part replacements around my water pump. They did a fantastic job, came in under the quoted price, and gave me great recommendations on everything I needed. Initially, they offered me multiple service options to choose from accompanied by a well-informed conversation. We only had two minor hiccups regarding appointment scheduling (resulting from a new system they're implementing) and an additional part needed but they recovered so well I have to give them 5 stars on that front as well. They dedicated three technicians to the job, offered to get it done next day, gave me a discount to make up for the mistake, and didn't charge me a penny for the part that they should've added on initially. The technicians informed me very well on the new parts, gave me future recommendations, and educated me on anything necessary for my specific system. I will definitely be using them again in the future! Also, if you are thinking about the Top Dog Membership they offer I would recommend it if you're paying $1000 minimum. It pays for itself and doesn't auto-renew so it's a great backup resource getting money off services and free estimate appointments. The prices they gave me on services were totally reasonable as well considering the amount of work they did!

Initially all was good, Brady Plumbing were responsive, quoted a fair price, and original work done on the day was good. However, while checking the work before they left, they found a leak in the bathtub drain. Leak probably caused by disturbance to the pipe and due to old gasket between drain-flange (basket) and the drain-elbow. Not their fault. However, they quoted $1,001 to repair it. Said they would discount to me for $874 if done now, but would cost more if they left and had to return - i.e., pay it now or pay even more later. The price they wanted was ridiculous. I declined. I fixed it myself with a $23 new drain-flange and a $6 pot of plumber’s putty. It took me, a non-professional, about 20 minutes. How could a plumber quote $1,001 for this?! Lost my faith in them and I couldn't hire them again.

How often should I have maintenance done on my air conditioner?

What maintenance should I perform on my air conditioning unit?

Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022
Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022

Changing out your air filter regularly is the primary maintenance you can perform. When talking about ground mounted outdoor units the units will need to be kept clear of debris, which includes any foliage in the area. Additional maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.

How often should I replace my air filters?

Is an HVAC system with higher capacity better?

Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022
Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022

In general, no. HVAC systems are the least efficient when first turning on. A system with too much capacity will run in numerous short cycles, turning on and off repeatedly, therefore causing it to be less efficient and increasing energy consumption. Another primary function of an air conditioner is to remove humidity from the air and running shorter cycles doesn’t remove humidity from the air very well.

How do you measure the efficiency of an HVAC system?

Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022
Brady Plumbing & HVAC | Mar 9, 2022

HVAC systems use a metric called S.E.E.R. (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) when assessing efficiency. S.E.E.R. is the amount of cooling your system will deliver per dollar spent on electricity. For example, a 3-ton unit may have a S.E.E.R. efficiency rating of 13, 14, or 15. The higher the S.E.E.R., which ranges from 13 -17, the more efficient the system will be.

What uses the most water in my home?

Toilets typically use the most water in the home, beating out showers, dishwashers, and sinks. This is because of the frequency toilets are often used. You can adjust the water level that the basin fills up to with a couple of quick adjustments. Also, there is the option to install a low-flush toilet, which uses less water.
