Just drove up for a day at the beach. Beautiful drive and nice uncrowded beach. Went in July on a Saturday, not crowded at all.

Difficult staying there because they do not serve food on Monday and Tues. They also changed there menu. Old menu was much better

First time passing through Kentucky! Came to Buckhorn Lake for a family reunion. We absolutely loved our stay here at this resort. Our room had such an amazing view! The staff here are amazing, super friendly and helpful. Where we came from we don’t have bears and snakes, so it was a nice touch to see the warning signs and chatting with the park ranger about bear sightings. Great place for boating and fishing, also the mini golfing, horse shoe and hiking trails! And the restaurant was a nice touch! Loved the food! Would have been nice to have a fridge in our room, and some of our sheets had a stain or two . But all in all, I’d rate our stay a 6/5 stars, we truly had a blast and would definitely stay again! Just an FYI, there is little to NO cell service. You may get a bar or two every now and then, remember that you’re in the mountains, hence why the only cellular service they have out here is called “ Appalachian wireless”. Also the wifi is not very strong here, you will have to either go to the lodge to get a stronger signal, but sometimes even when you go to the lodge it will be a tad hard to get on. Night and early mornings is the best times to get online if you need to connect.

My room was...damp? But clean. No cell service, no (reliable) wi-fi, no frills. If you wanna get away and curl up with a nice book or canoe on the lake or just re-connect this is THE place for you. I think it would be a great romantic getaway. The restaurant is woefully understaffed and as such the service takes some time but it's pretty alright food. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing I must say. All told I found it a nice enough place, absolutely gorgeous locale.
