This will be the last time I make an appointment to donate blood at this facility. My appointment was confirmed and after I drove 40 minutes to get to this location I arrived and they told me they could not see me. This is not the first time either myself or my loved ones have had this exact experience at this location.

The only way I'll return to this facility is if I'm running it. I've been donating blood for 35+ years in different cities and have to say this location is the most poorly-run of all I've been to. The clincher for me was yesterday, 4/4/22. I scheduled a whole blood donation for the last time slot of the day, thinking that for once I'd see some efficiency as people scrambled to wrap up and go home. Little did I know how right I'd be! I walked up to the front desk 10 minutes early, after a woman had just signed in and sat down to wait. A nurse yelled hello to me from a distance, walked over, I told her who I was and my appointment time, and she immediately said "well you'll have to reschedule, we can only have one 6:15 appointment", murmuring that she didn't know how two appointments could be scheduled, and dismissed me. The woman before me may have been the 6:00 appointment, I don't know and I doubt the nurse did either. If you treat volunteers as just an irritant, you lose volunteers. I guess they don't care because their donation slots are mostly "full", but based on feedback here it looks like a fair percentage are canceled/turned away. If you're wondering why there is such a critical blood shortage, read the reviews here.

The staff over there are very nice despite having turnover due to constantly training staff. The staff are competent, and most of them have a good sense of humor and want clients/patients to have a good overall experience. I can attest that they do prioritize platelet donations over whole blood when they have staffing issues. This is an issue that has to be focused on this particular location. This problem is now a wide phenomenon when it comes to customer service most every place these days. Try to schedule on a day when you have some flexibility with your time. Especially when it comes to giving platelets. Please try to keep these issues in mind.

I have been donating platelets for a couple months now. Just something I want to do, as I've known several friends that have had cancer. It's a 2.5 hour commitment that I'm glad to make. I make my appointments online on the Red Cross site. I've never had any issues with cancellations, except for one appointment made the same day. It was near the end of the time the donation center was open for the day. I got there, scanned my card into the check in computer- it said there was no appointment for me. That may have been my fault- same day last minute appointment. There wasn't anyone at the check-in desk for me to ask, so I just left. I chalked it up to me not planning ahead, then took myself out to lunch. All the employees I've dealt with here have always been polite and have answered any questions I might have. Going as often as I have been (about every 2 weeks), I think they're used to seeing me and I've become a regular client to them. The fact that I wear t-shirts with funny statements on them and that I usually bring chocolates to reward them for their dedication to their job probably doesn't hurt either.

I work at Danvers platelet donation center. All donations are required to be by appointment at this time. However, if you are giving whole blood you can go to a whole blood drive and they usually take walk-ins or accept same-day appointments more easily than the platelet centers can. The whole blood drives only do whole blood. If you want to donate platelets or plasma you need to go to the donation center after you make an appointment online. We do not have a scheduler on-site in Danvers at the moment.
Absolutely. The last 10 times our so that I've donated they were fully booked.
It is a DONATION center only. You can DONATE plasma up to twice a week depending on your health.
No only AB - and +
